Neat little hack..

Post by Virt »

Wasn't really sure where to stick this, but it's computer related so meh.

Was messing about on my lunch break today with javascript and had a brilliant idea, using JavaScript to automatically help you translate a foreign page. Naturally I only fluently speak English, so google translate had to come in handy.

So, ladies and gentlemen. I present to you this neat little hack

Code: Select all

javascriptvoid(location.href="http://translate.google.com/translate?u="+location.href)
Thought it would be pretty useful if you guys wanted to stalk the german VTR board or something. All you need to do is make a new bookmark and set the above code as the location. Then click on it, and ta da! It translates into Universal currently, so if you use it in a foreign country, it will use that countries language. I cba to find out what it is for English ( I tried "translate?en=" and "translate?eng=" but it didn't work, so I gave up :D)

You have to set it as a bookmark though or it doesn't work, you can't just paste it into the URL bar

Now I'm off to go stalk some German VTR owners

Talk about generation gap, I read the title of this post and thought you had bought a cheap runaround bike. Silly me, and on a bike forum as well, whatever would give me that idea!!
