Anti Virus ..systems

Post by Saintsman27 »

I recently had an appraisal of some free anti virus systems out there.... and well
it is advised that you only get what you pay for I agree on that.... but I
like to dabble and try out this and that ...so to speak. I have a stand up
Pc and two lappies and well the missus uses solely uses one of the
laptops mainly for her geneology... and she has amassed over 1200 genuine
contacts... amazing ... the others well are use by self..

Missus laptop is protected by Norton duly purchased ... but the others I
have recently changed from AVG freebie which hardly ever detected anything and
the other which used MSE , Microsoft Security Essentials which was quick but a bit
shallow didnt find much... again a freebie.

I read a report about AVAST 2014 was intrigued so I downloaded it.. and TBH its the dogs danglies
... finds stuff from the word go , is easy and is described by some geeks as the best " Fremium " Well impressed you can upgrade and buy extra properties etc but the basic avast is finding bad malware
and virus that AVG and MSE ignored... check it out on CNET downloads and editors reviews.

I am just a computer user/ punter not connected with this company at all and Avast is free for
anyone to dowload...just thought I would mention this

Avast is definitely some of the better anti-virus out there. Unlike Norton and Mcaffee (or however it's spelt). Combine it with Malware-Bytes anti-malware and you've got one safe system

Alb, I agree with you, and have been a big fan of Avast for many years

As for MSE, I think you'll find even microsoft now recommend using a third party anti virus instead :problem:
Here's a bit about it:- http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/security/38 ... s-rankings

You're right to be cautious when downloading anything.

Just one thing comes to mind when installing any software, take note of what you're installing, IE you have to un-check tool bar options (unless of course you want to add them as well) and the likes with many. I have a feeling Avast gives you that option. Just read the options as you install, or go for the custom install if that is available (I don't think it is with Avast A/V). That way you just install what you want.
