Windows 8 users?

Post by sirch345 »

What's your opinion of Windows 8 now you've been using it for a while?

Being new to Windows 8 myself, do you find you get problems with Windows updates not installing? I've only had the one update not install so far, after numerous attempts, but I'm wondering if this is a common thing with Windows 8, with it still being relatively new.
I'm beginning to wonder if I should have stuck to my original plan and gone with Windows 7 instead, which is supported until 2020.

Cheers Flatline for your reply  I was beginning to feel all lonely on my own

I'm feeling a lot happier with W8 now, I'm glad now a took a chance. Thanks for the link on W8.1, I knew it was meant to be coming out officially in October, but didn't now the exact date.

I'll be joining you soon, my laptop that arrives on saturday is rocking W8! Your frustrations will be shared I am sure, although this is a high end laptop. Who knows?

Is that Windows Blue then, in the link? I heard something about updating windows 8 to windows blue the other month, I'm guessing that's just another name for 8.1?

Yes W8.1 is W/Blue.

That will be good to have someone of your young age showing us what we've missed Young Virt

Don't be so sure  I'm getting my friend who uses W8 to teach me how to use it.. She's absolutely useless with computers so I'm really scraping the bottom of the barrel

 Click on the Desktop tile once it's fired up, then it doesn't look so alien  more like what you're used to,

I'll make sure to remember that  Thanks

I think I'm just going to have to get used to having a decent set up before the OS though. Never had anything with more than integrated graphics and a dual-core

Looks somewhat similar, never recall having Rossi as my background though

That looks bearable to deal with. I'm assuming you use the windows key to get back to the other screen then? I normally use that instead of the start button anyway so I could probably make do

I don't like that :-( I'm still a fan of xp .
But in time I guess I will have to change .
My note book is starting to show its age now and I've just finished backing it up just in case !
I think I will put one on the Xmas list for Santa :-)

I'm liking the desktop picture. But what concerns me is all this talk about Blue  that is bound to introduce problems.
