Re: V 2 torque

While I wouldn't say torque is a meaningless number, I do agree with not getting to hung up on spec sheets. With that, the way I tend to describe HP & Torque is: HP is how much work can be done and Torque is how fast that work can be accomplished. That is why a modern 600cc I4 has a higher top ...

Re: V 2 torque

The measurement of the torque of a rotating engine gives a completely meaningless number. The torque number, on it's own, tells you absolutely nothing. What we are interesting in is power, the capacity to do work. Power is torque multiplied by revs. E.g. A hydraulic radial motor (used in some indus...

V 2 torque

Does any one know if a v twin has the potential to produce more TORQUE than an inline 4 of same displacement. I know there's ALOT of factors. The v twin if there both 1000cc has 2 500cc combustion chambers that's a lot of force pushing down on the crankshaft but an i4 ha 250cc combustion chambers th...

Re: Stage 2 Cam Valve Springs

the stage 3 parts have all dried up im afraid, even the 2 parts are getting hard to find, but as has been said the 3 runs a forged crank and i would say would need regular rebuilds if used on the road.. :eek2 Awesome, thanks for the info, it's a shame the parts have dried up though it was an amazin...

Re: Stage 2 Cam Valve Springs

I think a STG 3 vtr uses a forged crank to handle high rpm and is very well balanced.. and even then probably doesn't rev much past 10k I wonder if the stg 3 rev ceiling is posted here somewhere.. i am very interested in the specs of the stage 3 bike ive been digging around and haven't been able to...

Re: Stage 2 Cam Valve Springs

Is it possible to raise the peak power past 10k on the vtr1000 Not in my experience, peak has always been around 9k regardless of engine tune. Although I'm using the stock ECU. Why would you want to is my question? Peak power right up close to the limiter is not much use. i was wondering because th...

Re: Stage 2 Cam Valve Springs

Well all good info but what I see as the most important factor here is coil bind. The stocks springs would almost certainly bind with STG 2 cams IMHO. I have this opinion because all the high lift cam options have spec'd replacement springs. Even with big cams, hi comp pistons, head work and whatev...

Re: Finally got the JE High Compression pistons put in

Two quick things to add to this thread.......... The cam change is to regain the top end you loose with the piston change. The reason you loose top end with the higher compression pistons is that the increase in cyl pressure inhibits the engines ability to rev. This is the reason for the increase i...
