Re: Bad news for me tonight

One with a knackered engine and swap the engines over like Tony suggested?

Re: Bad news for me tonight

Almost exactly a year ago I had a similar crash with similar injuries on my CB5, although the grazes were a fair bit bigger. I went to A&E that time and they said I didn't need a graft. It definitely looks deeper than it is in that picture! I'll be changing the dressing daily and keeping a close...

Re: Fluctuating idle

Yes! Or my gauges. It was also contributing to the slight off-idle stumble I posted about, although the choke issue was contributing to that as well.

Re: Fluctuating idle

Turned out it was my gauges that were dodgy. Tried with the Morgan carbtune ones I've had for a while but not used yet and the synch was out by quite a bit. Adjusted it with these and the bike felt lovely...so lovely I got carried away and crashed it (see my post in the General section)!

Re: Bad news for me tonight

Here's the damage to my leg (a link in case you're squeamish). http://i913.photobucket.com/albums/ac33 ... 4fg98o.jpg

It looks worse in this photo than it actually is.

Bike pics to follow.

Re: Bad news for me tonight

Thanks so much for the lovely messages lads, it makes me feel a lot better. I'd shake each of you by the hand if you were here! I'm so angry with myself because I know roundabouts can be slippery even in the dry as it was. I'll post some pictures of the bike later when I get it picked up. Assuming t...

Bad news for me tonight

I managed to bin the bike going too fast round a big (thankfully empty) roundabout tonight, at 50-60mph. I think there was some greasiness on the road. Low-sided it and thankfully damage to me is minimal, confined mostly to an 8in long graze on my right leg. The bike however is another story: front ...

Re: Fuel tap repair kits

Just to clarify, with mine the problem was that the plunger which blocks the fuel pipe and lifts when vacuum is applied didn't reach the back of the pipe even when fully closed and so allowed fuel to piss out - there was a gap at the back of at least 3mm. Is this the same with yours VTR Phoenix? Als...

Re: Fluctuating idle

Turns out the fluctuating needle is an issue with the damping in my gauges! Swapped the hoses and the same dial did it!

But idle is still fluctuating slightly...

Fuel tap repair kits

I bought this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/112136577816 recently but unfortunately it doesn't work. The rubber plunger is not deep enough to totally close the tap, and the diaphragm is too thick and inflexible to work properly. I have initiated a return for it. All the others I can find on there seem t...

Fluctuating idle

...and vacuum, by a few mm HG, on only the rear cylinder when checking carb sync. Other cylinder is absolutely stable (with my Davida gauges).

Is this likely to be a vacuum leak?

Carbs are stock, TPS is at 500, idle mixture is correct.

Re: Carburettor problems

Check that the blanking screw in the port for fitting a vacuum take-off in the front inlet isn't missing, or if it's been replaced with a stub and hose, that the hose is capped with something.

Location is on page 3-12 of the Honda workshop manual.
