Old bike blues.

Did some work on one of my old bikes today, an 09 Yamaha FZ1S fazer. It was really good to ride it again, felt so much better than the firestorm. Lately I've had the feeling of "can't be arsed to ride it" even though I have been. I didn't want to get off the FZ1, I never wanted to sell it ...

Re: Don't forget to service your shock....

My old Firestorm had an Ohlins on it, I sold the bike to a friend and they still have it, at about 20k they had to take the shock off and get it rebuilt as it had seized on the bottom mount, this could have been avoided if the linkages and bottom mount had been regularly serviced (cleaned and re gre...

Re: Shock spacer

yes i do. my nitron is ride height adjustable so I set it a bit longer but it is easier to fine tune the ride height with 1mm washers under the top bolt, so I have both Same with my Penske, it's adjustable for length but still have a 3mm spacer. Ohlins shock for the firestorm doesn't have ride heig...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Got back out on mine again today. Did 130miles with the missus on the back. Forgot how much of a pain in the butt it was having a pillion. First you have to adjust the shock, the firestorm is the hardest one I have ever adjusted, then you have the fact my missus has a bad back at the moment so you ...

If you put the word "spoiler" in the thread title then no one will look unless they know the results already, that way we're free to discuss the racing in as much detail as we like  All I can say is the bloke that won the SuperBike races was better than everyone else and so was th...

While your on mate where's best place in North west to take it for a service? Will do only self but want the book stamping so it's still got a full service history, thinking of swapping it for a blade after that opp storm ride, fantastic for two hours and after that I was in agony with the Rearsets...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

And you've got a carburettor hanging out the side 8O

I think that panel is held in with push peg things but you could cable tie it back in for now, must have been refitted wrong when the frame brace recall was done.

Re: Darley Moor

Hmm, Sorry for no update, It didn't go well at all, 3 laps of practice on the Katana and the head & base gaskets blew big time covering me, the bike and back tyre in oil. I wasn't happy, when I got the ride back in October I was assured it would be all ready to race and test before the start of ...

Re: GSXR engine oil

10/40 semi synthetic, silkoline super4 will be good enough but if you want to treat her a bit go for comp4, still semi (as we know  ) but reassuringly a little more expensive. Or any equivalent semi synth like Motul 5100 for example. It's been a while since I've changed oil on a K5 but i'm pre...

Re: woolwich on this day

muslim council and their cohorts have stood by too long and let these teachings go on under there noses That is a very good point, though I'm not sure what a true Muslim, which is peaceful, religion can do with the splinter groups that are creating their own religion and have weapons. Just like rel...

Re: GSXR Getting on with it

K5 shocks aren't too hard ??, check your settings against the handbook, if you still think it's too hard back off the compression a couple of clips, set static sag to 10mm, rebound should return at about the same rate at which you push it down. No point sending it to Kais. It's the front end that ne...

Re: Fuel efficiency/dependency?

High octane fuel is beneficial on high comp engines with the ignition advanced to suit. my old BMW r1200s was designed to run on the higher octane stuff and it did run much better on it than on the normal stuff, it had a knock sensor which advances the ignition accordingly, it was noticeably less sm...
