Re: Bike isn't charging

Awesome, great post my friend. Thank you very much. I do know the battery terminals are not the issue but the rest I'll have to diagnose.

Bike isn't charging

I'm going to do some diagnosis on the bike soon, I haven't done much yet. It wouldn't start one day, so I jumped it and it started. When I removed the jump pack, the headlight dimmed and then I turned the turn signal on which caused the headlight to dim even more with the blinking of the turn signal...

Re: Currently in Coshocton, Ohio

No longer in Coshocton, Ohio! I loaded up and headed to Brazil, Indiana about two weeks ago! That's where I am now. So picking up where we left off, I was correct about the stem bearings, as they were loose. I got about a third of a turn out of the top nut and they snugged up. Upon riding the bike a...

Re: Currently in Coshocton, Ohio

I actually didn't wait long at all, but it doesn't matter anyways because the light worked today! Woot! Thanks for the replies! I spent the whole day riding today and the bike did really well. It runs great. The stem bearings definitely have at least a little play, I'm certain now. I jabbed the fron...

Re: Currently in Coshocton, Ohio

I got the bike back together today with the rebuilt forks, balanced wheels, and new brakes. One issue I'm having is kind of a soft front brake. It works really well now and it's safe, but I think the 20 year old hoses have had it. It's too soft for my liking. My truck is a 99 and I literally just ha...

Re: Currently in Coshocton, Ohio

That is quite the thread, and thanks so much for sharing. I'll have to tackle those modifications at a later date though, as I'd like to get this bike back together today.

Currently in Coshocton, Ohio

I appreciate the thorough lesson in hydraulic systems, but I am very well versed. I do appreciate your taking the time to explain very thoroughly though. I was not aware of aftermarket options, so thank you for those! Personally I don't mind a clutch with little feel, or a "lightswitch". A...

Re: Currently in Coshocton, Ohio

Worth pulling the clutch cover off to check that the outermost plate tongues are in the spring plate holes. The last friction plate should always lock into the spring plate. The other option is the po has stuck in an extra metal plate to compensate for wear in the friction plates. Or the metal spac...

Currently in Coshocton, Ohio

Again...that's how they work. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I'm going to investigate nonetheless. If that's just how it's made, it's getting modified. :-) People have been trying for 22 yrs now so you should be able to search all the different things that have been tried....though none ha...

It's an absolute hoot, thanks! I have some videos posted on my YouTube. Same username as here on the forum. Here's a thread about the bike too.

Currently in Coshocton, Ohio

I think I might be explaining this wrong. I got all the air out the first time, it's solid as a rock. The problem is the clutch doesn't grab until the lever is way far out. Before I bled it, the fluid was old and soaked with moisture, and at that point the lever was squishy. That's essentially the s...

Re: Currently in Coshocton, Ohio

Today is the first time I've ridden the Superhawk since the work I did the other day, which included bleeding the clutch. Well as it turns out, I have a new issue. Before I bled the clutch, when it was full of swamp water, it would disengage just as soon as you started to release it. If you weren't ...

Re: Currently in Coshocton, Ohio

The writing on the crankcase is a quality control sign-off mark. They all have one somewhere. Different inspectors mark them in different places. Changing the clutch res is unusual, mostly I've just cleaned them up and put a stretchy towelling sleeve on to hide it. HRC make a sleeve, apparently.......
