Re: Oh no! Death Rattle!

Result indeed, it's not often you get the noise but not the expense......

Re the Acumen, I posted a wiring post in the Workshop Knowledgebase to save you trying to reinvent the wheel.
Mine is the one with the voltmeter built in, but should be the same.

Re: paddock stand bobbins

Could try that, as I use the plastic ones when working on other people's bikes.

Re: paddock stand bobbins

Mine are hard plastic, so slide annoyingly, disturbing the straps holding my scottoiler nozzle in place, and I always forget to readjust it again....
That's why I fitted bobbins.

Re: Head bearings

Only change them if they feel notchy, otherwise leave well enough alone.

Re: paddock stand bobbins

Yes, but the under arm ones let the swing arm slide up and along the cups, so that the cups end up nearer the engine, whereas bobbins stay where they are.

Re: Engine rebuild

Today I fitted the reground cams I had done last autumn. They are about 1mm higher, with about 10 degrees more dwell. I set them as per the standard ones, didn't degree them in, so may not be as good as they could be yet. But rode it around for ten miles or so, TBH knackered so didn't want to be out...

Re: paddock stand bobbins

Several people have just drilled and tapped directly in the swing arm, even simpler.
Mine are fine, and get used quite a lot, and others have done this, no-one as far as I kn ow has had one fail or thread strip.

Or has there?

Cheers, Chris.
Now what's an Etymole?

(And I really wasn't having a pop, each to his own.
Two wheels good, etc.)

Re: Head bearings

Well done Amos, got it sorted. Re scales, don't bother. Just do what Amos did, get the front end jacked up, and you can easily feel whether the forks will flop to one side or the other. If you're not sure, tighten them a bit more, then you WILL feel it being too tight. The loosen it until it's nice ...

Re: Swingarm to brace or not to brace...

Since finishing fitting the reground cams to my engine this weekend the swing arm brace is the next thing on the horizon, along with getting a spare subframe painted or powder coated, not sure which yet. I've got the brace from a Blade already sitting on the bench, the Blade mounting bracket as well...

Re: Sticking throttle

Mine sticks a bit, as I fitted soft rubber grips and din't trim them short enough. You can train yourself to shut it rather than rely on the spring, if you do it for a while it gets to be second nature. Then if it doesn't shut by itself you're less likely to bin it. Or if you ride someone else's bik...

Doesn't look anything like a chickung, I was expecting feathers at least.

Not too shabby for an outdoors one, though
