Re: Project Varatrackerstorm or Firetrackerdero.

Good progress it’s taking shape nicely. [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Cheers Duffy, still chipping away  I've started on the seat pan today, not too sure what I'd come up with. Here's the pictures. https://www.xrv.org.uk/forums/attachments/varadero/139251d1581019523-bored-y...

Re: Project Varatrackerstorm or Firetrackerdero.

Here's yesterday's progress. Firstly I set up the front cylinder exhaust pipe & worked out where the securing spring hoops were to be welded. This is a job that was sorted, but I removed a lot of pipe to remove the old trombone section & this included the spring hoops. https://www.xrv.org.uk...

Re: Project Varatrackerstorm or Firetrackerdero.

Cheers guys, I'm still in should I shouldn't I about the guard but I did a little more on it yesterday. I've also been talking about adhesive foil/fibre sheets that would help heat issues, quite expensive though. Has anyone got experience using the stuff? I had a quick look on ebay, but because I've...

Re: Project Varatrackerstorm or Firetrackerdero.

I'm not too happy with the exhaust shield either, so I've walked away & I'll give it a day or two break. So another job was found & that was the fitting of a fuel pump. I was originally going to go gravity feed, but after reading stories about fuel starvation especially at high revs I purcha...

Re: Project Varatrackerstorm or Firetrackerdero.

Cheers guys Right then, I've been at it again today. I'm not too sure that I should say this (too many beers maybe..) but when I get an idea in my head, even if I don't like it, I run with it. This number board/sheild is a prime example. I think It'll work but maybe it looks as if I'm/it's trying to...

Re: Project Varatrackerstorm or Firetrackerdero.

Cheers Chris, thanks. Here we go pictures ahoy  Today I've been busy doing something nobody likes including me, it's the exhaust side number board. It's a requirement for AMA flat track racing & most pictures of old flat trackers adorn them. Now I know that I or it ain't going anywere n...

Re: Project Varatrackerstorm or Firetrackerdero.

Right then, my old man came around today for a panad (cup of tea) & handed me a box. There ya go lad, what's that? I ask. A camera he answers. £30 offof ebay. I open it up & it's a Panasonic DMC-LX3 https://www.xrv.org.uk/forums/attachments/varadero/139125d1580251815-bored-your-varadero-ente...

Re: Project Varatrackerstorm or Firetrackerdero.

Know what you mean about things not being centered, the Storm rear shock upper mount always offended my eye by not being central as soon as I took the seat off. I know it couldn't clear the exhaust otherwise. If it was properly off to one side, fine. But a few mm just looks wrong. You don't notice ...

Re: No fuel, tons of smoke, won't start

It is a very strange feeling to see petrol gush out of the hole in your sump where old oil generally flows from. I filled a small jerry can and my oil pan. With all that unleaded in the engine. I am surprised she ran at all, if anything, this is a testament to the robust nature of our engine. Has a...

Re: Project Varatrackerstorm or Firetrackerdero.

Cheers guys  I can't get over it, but I've been at it again today. Not too sure what's come over me tbh & I'm enjoying it too. Today I focused on the oil cooler bracket. It's a strong complicated little stainless bracket & tbh you can hardly see it, but when every thing is bolted up...

Re: Project Varatrackerstorm or Firetrackerdero.

Been busy doing small minor jobs today but ones that needed to be done. I've been soldering up previously crimped connectors on the small controls loom I made. I did feel that they were good enough & survived the tug test, but I soldered them up just in case. They consisted of both ends of the c...

A Happy New Year to you too, ta  Good to hear from you. It sounds like you have been busy again  As Tony says, it's the little jobs that take the time with not a huge amount to show for it, Chris. Hi Chris Cheers. I gave it a break for a few months. Done a heap of gardening, cleared ...
