Where abouts in NZ?
Me (and my VTR of 1000 pieces) are in West Auckland.

Black one. SH16 Aucland
Was it you?
Black 'Storm weaving through the traffic jam on SH16 this morning about 9:30 heading East.
Non standard pipes sounded good!

Re: Wiring
Thanks for all of the help.
I started looking into it really closely last night and found a redundant loom which at one point must have had an alarm / immobiliser attached to it, and this had been spliced into the original connectors.
I'm going to rip the whole lot out and start again!

Re: Wiring
I suspected as much.
I can't imagine the previous owner would have had the nonce to do anything too technical - there was a broken wire in one of the connectors and he stuck it back in with silicone!

Re: Wiring
Yes, I've got that schematic.
I'm happy to re-pin all of the connectors but I want to check with other VTR owners whether the colours in the connectors do correspond with each other or not.
Thanks!

Re: G'day from Perth, Australia
Welcome from across the ditch in NZ.
Wiring
I have a bit of an issue - or may have a bit of an issue - with the dash wiring on my VTR. The wiring has been butchered elsewhere on the bike which is easily redeemable, but the dash wiring is odd: The plugs and sockets fit together with no issue, but the wiring colours don't line up. All the colou...

Re: VTRNZ
Thanks Chris. I get itchy fingers if I don't do anything...... The seat unit is now well underway. I ground & cleaned the plastic inside & out and riveted small aluminium plates to hold the 'hump' in the right place while I plastic-welded the two parts together. Ground out the welds and slop...

There's nothing better on a Sunday morning than to wake up with the sweet smell of plastic welding......

Back to the underseat rad, this sprouted mount brackets which take the original Storm radiator rubbers: https://i.postimg.cc/zVbPGws7/IMG-5221.jpg Then small threaded tabs to take the original fan: https://i.postimg.cc/sBcTNTWj/IMG-5223.jpg Which all looks very spunky in place: https://i.postimg.cc/...

Re: VTRNZ
I thought it looked a bit 'slabby' so I took out the grinder and: https://i.postimg.cc/3dCwTZFm/IMG-5219.jpg Added the little cut-out bits that will house the indicators, and also added more material to the sides to help hide more of the wiring etc. https://i.postimg.cc/MX167Y4N/IMG-5218.jpg

Re: Hi All
Hi Bob from sunny New Zealand! I too was an avid British bike fan for years (I'm an ex-pat) until a chance encounter with a Suzuki twin. It turned me Japanese and I've been there ever since. Of all the bikes I've owned, the big Hondas have always been my stand-out favourites. Currently on my second ...
