Really enjoying the spring weather here in New Zealand; we got up to 24C on Sunday, and the conditions for riding were just as perfect as they look. This is the view across to Coromandel form Kaiuaua.

Re: My season over
Maybe fuel starvation due to the heavy braking; would the fuel pump location play a part there? I recall that it sits to the rear of the engine so fuel will not be actively flowing there under really hard/long braking Maybe you need a little surge tank just ahead of the pump to ensure continuity of ...

Re: My season over
Good job racing your old VFR Popkat. Th last V4 I had on a track was in 1983 on my VF400, that also had a case of splutters on a back straight yet never did that on the road. Sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs but have you checked that the tank is venting freely?

Re: Happy birthday Cadbury64
Thanks Gents. Had a barbecue at home then went for a spin with my old friend on his new Tuono 1100. Don't try one of these, what a weapon! The VTR acquitted itself well in its company however.

Re: Travel advice - what do folks take?
I would not bother with spare bulbs, they're bound to sell them in Austria (and probably Australia), but I would take spare clutch and brake levers (even cheapie ones from China). Nothing worse than a slow-speed or stationary drop that breaks a lever and leaves you stranded for a number of days whil...

Re: Standard Fork Upgrade Service Guide
I'd suggest that you should be able to fully close the needle valve (just). I normally set the adjustment screw down into the fork cap until the tops are flush (or 2 1/2 turns in from fully out if your screw has a stop point). Then screw the fork cap down onto the rod until the needle JUST bottoms o...

Re: Fork internal damping cartridge stack
The difference between those two valve setups is that one has the fixed bleed port down the middle of the bolt and out through the visible hole below the valve body. The other set probably has either a small spacer (0.1mm x 12mm) keeping the face shim clear of the valve body which I suspect is stock...

Re: Fork internal damping cartridge stack
No idea how you take these things to bits.... Is what you are after in the end of this? https://i.postimg.cc/F1BKsnG4/DSC-0931.jpg Screw a 30+mm long bolt a little into the thread on the end and tap that gently to push the base valve in until you find the thin wire circlip, that can be hooked out, ...

Re: Comfort kits
I can't comment specifically on that kit, but I did try some of the 25mm offset footpeg mounts that are available on eBay, and ran into a problem with the gearshift. Specifically, with the footpeg lowered I also needed the gearshift lowered, and when that was in the correct position there was contac...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
thanks to kermit i changed old yellow into touring storm with some givi stuff to go with the high bars and wee TT screen.... its no goldwing granted but pretty comfy. As long as you like your touring in 100 mile spurts, that will be grand! Firestorm: able to pass anything on the road except a petro...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
My poor VTR has been languishing in the Mancave for a few months with little riding, and it decided to reward me by developing a minor clutch fluid weep from the slave. Last night I (hopefully) rectified that with some new seals. The inside of the slave was only mildly grungy, but the bore and the p...

Re: New VTR purchase, bike stopping after 1 minute riding.
Its easy enough to pull the carbs out, then just take the float bowls off and pull the jets out for a looky. You can download a Honda service manual here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wnh696qph5f11ba/VTR1000F.pdf?dl=0 My suggestion is that if you do pull the carbs, get yourself some new carb inlet rubb...

Re: New VTR purchase, bike stopping after 1 minute riding.
This is a most excellent reply, i have taken the low fuel sensor out last night and checked it. All seems good with nothing broken off. I gave it a wipe over with a cloth, placed it back in and the light now works. It takes about 45 seconds to come on but it works. Which way is the tap opened or cl...
