Old man eyes

I'm getting sick of not being able to see close up so what are you guys using to solve having old eyes, and where did you get it/them from? Being short sighted I can take my specs off and see right up close, but then have to hunt for my specs to then find my tools. If I leave my specs on I have to c...

Re: Removing choke.

I agree with Chris. I kept the choke when I was using my bike on track days and races. I can't see the choke as part of your fueling issues. Fix those first and then see about the choke.

Re: the saga.

Crap to hear but always mention injuries. Especially hand/wrist. No one needs to be out of DIY action [emoji2960]. Seriously though, scaphoid injury can be really serious. Glad it's not that.

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Picked up the bodywork yesterday and got most of it fitted before tea. Took some swearing and shouting as I tried to route the wiring harness so it didn't foul the fairing. The Spondon subframe must be lower than a stock one [emoji849]. Seat unit and some tweaks to do tomorrow and I can get it booke...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Packed up most of the bodywork to go back to the painter on Monday. wombles well pissed off. I should have properly looked at it when I picked it up yesterday but I was in a rush and you just trust people will do a good job. So when I pulled it all out of the car and unwrapped it from the dust sheet...

Re: Passing Switch for MOT

I'd have guessed it would fail without a flash for main beam but I can't see that in the regs now I've read them. They just talk about main and dip beam, alignment and switching. The regs are on gov.uk so have a read yourself and make sure.

Re: Front brake line ‘Race’ set up

Set it up however works for your bike. Most likely longer line to the left but routing makes a difference. Crush washers are one between each line and the m/c and bolt, so just three. If the bolt doesn't nip the washers up when you tighten by hand don't force it, buy deeper washers. Basically, don't...

Got it running [emoji41]. Start-up procedure as per Roger's sheet, carbs balanced and the TPS set. I was shitting myself when I pressed the starter but it started easily so I'm hoping all will be good from now on. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk Come on Nick. When’s the final unavailing? Re: From 107 to 128

So it's a runner. Finally. It's backfiring on starting up when warm and hangs around 2.5k as the revs decrease, so the fueling isn't right. I need to reread the carb tuning guide and see what I need to do to make it a bit better before booking an MOT and getting it on the road. Once it's run in it'l...

Re: SC 36 Honda Ignition Map DATA

This thread has useful info. I'm looking at doing the same over winter. https://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=39935 An ignition advance across the range is not what you need on these bikes. If you've got a standard engine I'd not bother with the Ignitech, but you've started already...

Re: Another flat bar conversion.

Everything always takes longer than you think. I now double my time estimate then add another 50%, so three times longer than I expect. Pretty much covers it.

Good job.

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Got the wiring under the seat all tidy, fitted the number plate and made a start on shaping the replacement seat foam. Oil and water tomorrow and hopefully the bodywork will be ready so I can get it running.
