Re: Swapping speedo etc for a acewell digital speedo !!!!

Hi stew Just a small correction for you - it's the tacho that picks up the signal from the ICU, not the other way around. Take a look at the thread "Air filter mod?" - there's some more stuff I posted on mods to the airbox. I remember we did some jet changes at the time I took the snorkel ...

Re: How to fit stick coils

Cheers matey, that's nice and clear! Seems as though CBR1000 units fit too, judging by other posts. I'll look out for 03 stick coils for that too as they may well be the same.

Re: Swing arm and brace

You could look at an early Yam R1 brace, as I did a few years ago before I changed the swinger to a VFR800 sigle sider. You can then fit a really tidy R1 hugger. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8423/7698820916_261a6efdf5_c.jpg Wouldn't risk having different chain adjusters fitted though - don't see th...

Re: How to fit stick coils

Guys, I've been trying to find out about fitting stick coils to a Storm, so glad to find this thread. A couple of questions... 1. Is there a list of known compatible stick coils to look for? CBR600, CBR1000? Years? 2. lloydiecbr says the two wires from the stick coil connectors are soldered to the t...

Re: Tango'd Storm

Yes, it's a modified standard Storm exhaust. I had to re-route the rear header because I had to relocate the shock. Had to relocate the shock because the shape of the "V" in the front of the VFR800 swingarm didn't allow enough space for the components in their original position. I think I'...

Re: Air filter mod?

Thought I'd correct the "burnie morgan airfilter modication" advice a little... At the foot of his page he says removing the snorkel doesn't work on a Firestorm. 100% WRONG. He also says cutting (or,as he says, "drilling") holes in the airbox top cover doesn't work. 100% WRONG. I...

Re: possible reg/rec fault

A couple of years ago I changed my crappy resin R/R for a Yamaha R1 (2001) and it's been perfect ever since. Cheap as chips on ebay and a really easy mod too. This Yam R/R is larger but is finned so cools efficiently.

Re: Swapping speedo etc for a acewell digital speedo !!!!

Hi stew I fitted a Motogadget unit to my fightered Storm (see "Tango'd Storm" in the Pimp My Ride section) a few years ago and remember well the head-scratching... http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7113/7697061042_b8cd9fbe97_c.jpg Firstly, let's just confirm which wire is looking for a new hom...

Re: Tango'd Storm

If there's anything I've learnt from building modified bikes it's this: nothing's as simple as it at first looks... I started off with what I thought was a neat solution, the aftermarket LED stop/tail/integrated indis unit I got off of ebay from a German company. Beware, there's some really crap rep...

Re: Tango'd Storm

The tail unit's a Ducati 748S single seater with a 748 Biposto subframe, suitably modified to fit. I made the undertray our of 2mm strainless steel sheet and had it powdercoated. To be honest, I've been thinking about a fairing change for some time now. I need a fairing to tidy the front and hide so...

Re: Tango'd Storm

Judging from the pics you've also used a multi-spoke front wheel too. That makes it look right, balanced - same style wheels front and back. Looks really good! What size tyre did you get on the VFR rim?
