Two jumps in a week, I bet you think that's pretty clever, don't you boy? Flying along on your motorcycle watching all the ground beneath you drop:

Shock - stuck in top mount.
Hi guys, not Storm related but grateful for any assistance from you multi-skilled people. I am changing out the rear shock on my XSR to a YSS unit. Have got the bolts out but the shock is stuck in the top mount, almost like its been glued in there! Perhaps I need to try and force the jaws open after...

Re: Practical Sportsbikes - VTR May 2021
Hi Al,
I had an SV1000S after my Storms, didn't think it was as good overall. Wouldn't get another, whereas I still like the idea of another Storm.

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
Worth a go Fab, fork springs are a lot less expensive than shocks. Changing everything at once wasn't ideal in terms of knowing which one had the biggest effect, suspect cutting the spacers may have helped more than the springs but it feels great now so ordered a YSS shock today for the rear.

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
I stripped the forks out of the XSR, replaced the fork oil with 12.5wt, cut 10mm off the fork spacers with a pipe cutter, swapped the standard springs for a set of 9.0 KTech linear ones. Waiting on a pair of preload adjusters but put it back together with the standard fork caps and took it for a tes...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
I hung the front end off the garage joists and removed the forks. Drained and refilled with same amount of 12.5w oil (up from 10), cut the fork spacers with a pipe cutter 10mm, new KTech linear springs (9.0) arriving later this week and a pair of cheap chinese preload adjusters. Should sort the fron...

Just finished a couple of books about despatch riding in London, by S. P. Muir "You're Where Now?" and "Back this Way", both excellent. Also working through the Walt Longmire series by Craig Johnson, highly recommended if you like a bit of small town Sherriff crime drama with a b...
