Re: Reg rec current drain

Pull all of the fuses and check again. A reg/rec has two functions, one side (the rectifier) allows current to flow one way only (into the battery) from each of the alternator's three windings using a diode, and the regulator part turns any excess voltage over what's safe for the battery to be turn...

Reg rec current drain

My new battery is dead. Having found it dead before heading to the MOT I jumped it and got the bike going. At the MOT station it was started twice and then nothing when I came to leave. Another jump got me home. The battery got changed, didn't take very long, and I checked for a parasitic drain. The...

Re: what will get you through winter?

Winter jobs for me:

Ride the bike as much as possible before the weather gets too bad

Copy the Spondon rear subframe I've borrowed from GLSR so I can fit the Spondon seat unit

Rebuild the loom with an Ignitech ECU

Do something else other than work on the bike

Re: Engineering group idea - thoughts please

Thanks for the feedback. My thought was for something more general than something centred around the forum but I can easily see forum members feeling the benefit. Basically exactly what Tony said only probably just a lathe and MIG and/or TIG as a starting point. My dad is into woodwork & woodtu...

Engineering group idea - thoughts please

Hi all, I've been thinking about this for a while and feel like it's a good idea but I also feel as though, if it really was, someone else would have done it by now. So what am I missing where should I go with this? The idea is to form a sort of informal group of people with an engineering interest....

Gone to a good home by the looks of it. What's the tail tidy mounted to? Just the undertray?

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Sorted the steering and refitted the headlight and stop/tail light. I also checked for a parasitic drain on the battery and the only drain was the Reg/Rec. If I'm reading the multimeter right it's either 4 or 40 milliamps (when set on 20m it read 3.8ish, on 200m 38ish). Not massive either way. I che...

Thanks Chris. I'm still not sure it isn't too black but that can be sorted with time.

Re: From 107 to 128

That's it, it's finally been to the MOT station and actually went and passed. The weather was closing in so I couldn't get anywhere for a prettier photo unfortunately. No issues with the MOT, just advisories for no lights. I'll be running with headlight and stop/tail until I can work out where to fi...
