Re: Sun 9.4.17 Chester

Spanner boy, was that you I just saw at the Hoole roundabout? Yellow with Scorpion cans? I was behind you on my black CB500 (VTR is still smashed up from my crash!).

Re: Bad news for me tonight

Well I took the subframe (many thanks tony.mon) over to the place where my bike's going to be repaired yesterday, and this Saturday they're welding the lug on the frame where the subframe attaches and installing this new one. I now either have or have on the way all the other bits I need to at least...

Re: 20th anniversary meet 15th July Birmingham Motorcycle Museum

Am very much hoping to be there. It's my fiancée's birthday the previous Tuesday so it may be tricky but I'll do my best to book something for that the previous weekend

Re: Parts wanted following crash

Thanks to the incredibly kind quick responses I've had on here I've got a fair bit of this covered already. I've coloured the list above to reflect this. Will PM those who've replied above and who I haven't answered yet. Seat or seat surround plastics? I have a yellow seat surround plastic and a sea...

Re: Bad news for me tonight

Hahahaha yes it would.

Only just noticed that the bike hit that post – didn't notice the red marks on it while I was there. (scroll to the right in the last picture if it's not all showing – I had to on my computer). Dayam.

Parts wanted following crash

As per my post in http://vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=40974&sid=7cc6776132550dfabafb3af7a9412293 I recently binned my 'storm rather badly and need some bits for it. I hope making one post with a list of parts is the right thing to do rather than a separate post for each part! Plea...

Re: Bad news for me tonight

You were very lucky that you didn't do more damage to yourself. And..... the police didn't get an accident investigation team out to try to ascertain how it happened, that could have been a whole lot more expensive. Would they have charged me for that if they'd got an accident investigation team in...

Re: Bad news for me tonight

Hmmmm...sadly I think the diesel I 'saw' this morning was wishful thinking/a trick of the light. I've been back during my lunch hour and there's not really diesel, just some discolouration of the road surface probably down to general deposits etc. So probably this was the cause (combined with too mu...

Re: Bad news for me tonight

I've just been to my crash site and it's clear why the bike's so f***ed. It slid hard into a kerb and then flipped onto the back end. Now then. There is, as I suspected there might be, a pretty obvious 2ft wide line of diesel extending for about 3/4 of the way round the roundabout and, not surprisin...

Re: 10w-30 JASO?

10w30 is thinner when engine is cold, see viscosity at 40 deg, however minimal pumping temperature is similar. ... Right you are - should have done my research! The OP shouldn't worry about using 10W30 unless he's riding in temps of 32ish degrees C or more - in the workshop manual Honda say: http:/...

Re: 10w-30 JASO?

I thought 10W30 and 10W40 are the same weight when cold (hence the 10) but 10W30 is thinner once warmed up, so not so good if you ride somewhere very hot but otherwise fine for these bikes?

Re: Happy birthday jchesshyre

Ahh thanks a lot :D Yesterday was great - played mini golf with old friends followed by beers and very good Chinese food. Today I have a beautiful ride down from Cheshire to Shropshire to see family on the CB500. Leg and other bits aren't too painful at all. And repairing the 'storm is looking hopef...

Re: Bad news for me tonight

Thanks Chris. Yes I was very lucky, also because my visor is scratched to f*** but the helmet's otherwise unmarked, and also I was wearing a rucksack with my laptop, audio interface and headphones in, all of which are unscathed other than two rips in the rucksack. My fingers are very crossed for the...
