It's not torn, but it's gone brittle and the mesh is clogged up with shite. Methoklone isn't something that you can put plastic into and expect it to survive

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement in-tank fuel filter? I had my tank resprayed but it was dipped in a methoklone tank first. I couldn't get the buggering thing out so left it in there, but I've got it out now and it's pretty shagged. Do I need to replace it or shall I buy a pair of in-l...

I can certainly give it a go. Those easy-outs aren't as hard as you might think...they're closer to monkey metal than they are proper tool steel! The other stud will be no problem at all. I'm a machinist by the way

What you need to do is thoroughly clean the mating faces of the CCT with some white spirit on a lint-free cloth and stick a thin contiguous line of Hylomar around one of them, then when you put it back together make sure that you torque the bolts up correctly. You could use instant gasket type stuff...
