Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Sorted the steering and refitted the headlight and stop/tail light. I also checked for a parasitic drain on the battery and the only drain was the Reg/Rec. If I'm reading the multimeter right it's either 4 or 40 milliamps (when set on 20m it read 3.8ish, on 200m 38ish). Not massive either way. I che...

Re: From 107 to 128

Thanks Chris. I'm still not sure it isn't too black but that can be sorted with time.

Advisories for no lights. That's it. Didn't even mention the exhaust [emoji344]

Re: From 107 to 128

That's it, it's finally been to the MOT station and actually went and passed. The weather was closing in so I couldn't get anywhere for a prettier photo unfortunately. No issues with the MOT, just advisories for no lights. I'll be running with headlight and stop/tail until I can work out where to fi...

Re: Old man eyes

Contacts and pinching my partner's reading specs is one option but I don't wear my contacts very often. More use on the mountain bike, especially map reading [emoji361]. I've been looking at Anglepoise-type magnifiers and there are loads of them. I can decide whether to get one on a stand or with a ...

Re: Removing choke.

Great news. If you didn't recheck your TPS after balancing it's worth doing it. Generally balancing ends up with a change to the idle screw setting, which has a knock-on effect on the TPS. I'm not aware of any carbs that don't have adjustment. I thought all the TPSs we're slotted. The bolts might be...

Re: Removing choke.

Right, so the choke went back on. Starts much better. The flutter when you blip at tick over has also gone, so I’m happy that this was likely from a vacuum leak before I tightened up the carb rubbers. I had also switched from 45 to 48 pilots, and the engine revs nicely. The new symptom is this tick...

Re: Old man eyes

Readers would work if I wasn't so short sighted. I've tried my partners and I'm better off without. They'd work with contacts but I can't be arsed with them for half an hour on the bike. Maybe a stronger magnification will work though. I'm thinking some sort of magnifying glass on a stand might work...

Old man eyes

I'm getting sick of not being able to see close up so what are you guys using to solve having old eyes, and where did you get it/them from? Being short sighted I can take my specs off and see right up close, but then have to hunt for my specs to then find my tools. If I leave my specs on I have to c...

Re: Removing choke.

I agree with Chris. I kept the choke when I was using my bike on track days and races. I can't see the choke as part of your fueling issues. Fix those first and then see about the choke.

Re: the saga.

Crap to hear but always mention injuries. Especially hand/wrist. No one needs to be out of DIY action [emoji2960]. Seriously though, scaphoid injury can be really serious. Glad it's not that.

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Picked up the bodywork yesterday and got most of it fitted before tea. Took some swearing and shouting as I tried to route the wiring harness so it didn't foul the fairing. The Spondon subframe must be lower than a stock one [emoji849]. Seat unit and some tweaks to do tomorrow and I can get it booke...
