Re: 9 /10 / 11 Aug. Op Storm Northumberland

The A686 runs SW from Haydon Bridge down through Alston then over the famous Hartside pass. Only a brief stop here the look at the view over Cumbria because the run down to Melmerby is something special and the cafe/bakery at Melmerby is tops. One option then is to run North on B roads to Brampton a...

Re: 9 /10 / 11 Aug. Op Storm Northumberland

Kermit has routes in mind, he is local.

As for how many storms….. they get less and less each year….. if I am in my camper van, I will have my storm, but if I decide to ride there from home it will be on the KTM

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

When i checked the KTM valve clearances all 4 exhaust valves were pretty tight on the 0.25mm feeler gauge, which is bottom spec, and I had told myself that it would be fine till next service and was going to to build it back up when the 4 spark plugs arrived. Bad move having too much thinking time!!...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

For me the only crashes that get into my head were the ones I cant find an explanation for. As long as I can work out what I did wrong, or what failed, then I can process the lesson and go straight back to speed. But if I can’t work it out, it niggles at my mind that it could happen again because I ...

2/3/4/Aug.. Op Storm Northumberland

Iain (Kermit Le Frog) and I have been having a discussion since last year about trying to add a Northumberland Storm weekend to the packed schedule for 2024 meetings, as he is very keen to let us see the great motorcycle roads he has on his doorstep. so here is the proposal. normally in this time sl...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Chris, based on the leak pattern, I think the oil is leaking from the breather pipe elbow that comes out of the rear cam cover and up to the airbox, so have ordered 2 new orings. Obviously I won’t know if I am right till it’s all back together, so I will be gutted if it’s not fixed…….wont be happy t...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Meanwhile in my garage I took theRD 400 drag bike off the ramp and maxed the big KTM on. There has been an oil leak from the back rocker cover that leaks onto the rear exhaust header pipe, so as that needed investigation, so I may as well change the 4 spark plugs and check the valve clearances while...
