Re: VTR Cafe Fighter Project
Cheers all, nah its gonna be mig'ed mostly the one weld on show might be tig'ed but none of it's being done by me as there are MUCH better welders out there than me. I'll be grinding out the mig welds out to make them look nice though.

Re: VTR Cafe Fighter Project
Spent a bit of time on the sub frame today, here's the progress so far. Need to weld it up as is, then test fit it and check it all out and add in the fittings for all the other bits and pieces. http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu218/ant_cg/Mobile%20Uploads/tmp_30511-DSC_0399-366191526_zpsgoqaqdrg...

Re: It's that time again.....
I had the same issue with the frame, couldn't get anywhere with it so I've used textured paint. With powdercoat remember you can get other finishes, not just shinny, you can get satin, matt and textured versions, might cost a little more to buy the powder but you'll likely be able to get most things...

Re: VTR Cafe Fighter Project
Cheers pineapple and Chris! Hello Carl, its just masking tape and a stanly knife, simple really. The paint is the easiest stuff to use, you really can't mess it up. It's difficult to make it run as it's so thick and if you over do it doesn't matter. As for the CAD i love solidworks, it's great for i...

Re: VTR Cafe Fighter Project
Been busy today designing a new sub-frame for the bike. Wasn't happy with the butchered old one so thought I'd make a new one / give myself a whole load more work.... Here's what I came up with, designed in solidworks if there are any other CAD nerds out there: http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu2...

Re: VTR Cafe Fighter Project
Hello Carl, yeah it's all torqued up and the bearing bars are touching the brackets so the play is basically the dog bone and other linkage sliding along the bearing bars.

Re: VTR Cafe Fighter Project
Cheers Chris, thats what I was going for. I'm an industrial designer by trade so it's a case of using what I know. I've also taken a lot of inspiration from the nrw yamahas.
