Re: a bit of spondoness.

There can be some kind of electrical/mechanical issue when engine gets warm, is it running ok after cool down? Some wild guesses, there is no place for normal ones, Thermostat: try to remove it, or check all hoses are tempered - for stuck/closed thermostat, maybe there is local overheating causing t...

Re: a bit of spondoness.

I have to be in the crowd of "Who are you saving the engine for?"...... put it back where it belongs... I am on the same boat. Be honest and admit this engine has no real value as a keeper. Only somebody who wants to run it will pay some money, but not much these days. And price wont go up.

Re: a bit of spondoness.

I believe Roger did polished oem rods on stg2 and higher engines where he couldnt use carillo rods (moriwaki/hrc builds were not allowed to use them). So I wouldnt be surprised if he did it in your engine.

Re: steering stem swap

sunny west wales. ive looked at a few youtube clips so its not too difficult for someone with a hydraulic press You dont even need hydraulic press, lathe is enough. Tough part is to prepare both parts for pressing with right tolerances. Vtr yoke has safety weld at the bottom, so it is questionable ...

Re: My first racing experience: part deux

Try different approach when start race, and decrease time on clutch as much as possible. I hold the throttle at 3-3.5k rpm (maybe bit less), and then just relaease the clutch relatively quickly so the bike is accelerating witch clutch on short distance and full throttle and acceleration is done with...

Re: Your top speed

Well back on topic :D Last Sunday I had a quick look see, at what my top end speed was. Turned out to be 150 on the clock. Held on for longer and with a tail wind it might have hit 155 but was certainly out of puff by 150. Tried an experiment today. Kinda part two  Last weak, as I thought the ...

Re: JE high comp noise

The only way to tell is on a Dyno but you could try raising the needles and see if it stops. If you haven't changed the filter of cans then I can't see the pistons making a difference to fueling. What sort of noise are you hearing? It was detonating, I switch out main jets and put snorkel back on n...

Re: Red storm dyno - hp on engine

If you wide open the throttle in low revs, needle goes up with some speed depending on airbox configuration, slide holes and carbs springs. And during this movement, needle profile still takes some part I guess.

Re: new cruiser

:D :D It happens to us all at some point. Just remember you don't have to keep up with all the young ones in their lightweight models anymore  I keep up only with myself, found this as entertaining way for work commuting, keeping my body aware. Plusside/downside, it is little bit out of no...

new cruiser

I got old, so cruiser seems to be good idea. Slower ,but very happy with the ride.

For those who don´t know, cruiser is type of skate for sidewalk, street riding ... :)

Re: From 107 to 126

Doesnt look good for me, it is maybe compressed too much and this hole in the place where should be full material holding the strenght is worrying me. On my chain riveted by proven mechanic, you hardly recognize where the connection is. Maybe I am just too cautious ... Edit: I mean one hole seems to...

What exactly was your running setup before? Filter, airbox mods, jetting.
