Re: lithium battery
still true, just last point can be solved by disconnecting the battery. But alarm is not working then ... On the other hand, 4kg weight save is massive, and if cared properly, lasts for ages. I run mine from 2008 I think, just last year replaced 4 cells, other 4 are still original. Personally I woul...

Re: lithium battery
battery can be fitted with quick connector, my friend do them like this. I think there are some commercial producers with connector too.

Re: Chain and gearing for racing
For universal solution, I would go for 1st gear from SP (improvement, Storm is too short), 16/43 gearings (6 is perfectly usable, I ride it), 520 chain (proven and lightest DID ERV3) and full Alu Renthal rear srocket (never had problem with), Renthal or Suntour on front (both lighter with holes, Ren...

okay, I hope cams are untouched, rest is swapable to good std engine with JE pistons fitted (new rings only), so you can do another one.

Re: Bigger Bore Etc
Congratulation, I remember what a great feeling it was breaking in new engine which was running fine. Sounds healthy through rev range, seems like you have no problem in mid revs.
If you manage to do dyno run in future it would be nice.

Yes, I forgot oem clutch plates dont like full synt oil. There is lot of good semi oils in 10w40 anyway.

Re: 10W40 or 10W50?
Theory in oils has moved up a little in recent 15 or so years. While 10w50 will have better protection in high temp, 10w40 will not even reach this temp because it has better heat exchange due to better flow, and this better flow also means better protection on some engine parts and less power loss ...

Re: Home made flow bench
You are correct, however, the ex cams really don't have any more lift. At least not the 3 sets I've measured. They have .405" of lobe lift on both the exhaust and intake. I have not yet verified the timing events yet though. Either way, "gain" is relative, if you move the power to wh...

Re: Home made flow bench
And here's the gears: Zoom in and you'll see the difference. Bit of 50:50 here but I'm saying the one the right is the machined one. I've not experience of machining but the holes look cleaner cut and the teeth have what look like grooves in them that I'm guessing are from machine tools. Looks like...

Re: Rejetting of carbs
48 pilots, and I would buy 180, 182 and 185 jet, bigger is probably not needed. Start with 2 turns out on front and 2.25 on pilot screws, 178f 180r jets, rear needle shimmed by 0.5mm. This should give you good baseline, you can try go one or two sizes up on mains then. Other things you can change is...

Re: Aprilia SL Falco thoughts
My friend has done the RSV swinging arm and shock thing. Other than changing the end cans it's stock. Falcos have smaller valves than the RSV and a less aggressive riding position. Listed at 118 bhp I believe but is pretty quick mid range 118 bhp is on engine, not rear wheel. Falco has similar powe...
