Re: Anyone play instruments?

I play (when I can get the time). Have a Ibanez Jem desert yellow with rosewood fretboard and tree of life inlays, an Epiphone Les Paul and a tanglewood acoustic. Had a black Ibanez 7-string until recently

Re: The Two Thousand Year Old Computer

Wow, that is absolutely amazing. Just imagine how finicky it is to make and put something like that together. (:-}) Pretty mind blowing stuff. Drillbits that are the thickness of a human hair, gear wheels that are wafer thin and the size of your fingertip but with hundreds of gear teeth cut in. I'm...

Re: The Two Thousand Year Old Computer

Hublot produced a one-off working version of the antikythera, but sized down to become a wristwatch. Incredible engineering..

Re: 12v power socket

Mine's mounted in a little bracket I made up, by the right hand side of the clocks. It's a waterproof socket with an inline fuse, the cable is could up and tied up behind the dash and I'm taking power off the clocks using the screw-in loop connectors so its only powered when ignitions on.

Re: The Firestorm UK logo at the top there ^^

Ok a bit of forum history... Al (up in Scotland) 'owns' the site to the best of my knowledge. I originally had a VTR gallery site with the aforementioned logo, and Al had set up a forum for VTRs so we joined them up. Al took care of hosting and the forum side, and when I sold my VTR and had other bi...

Re: Your number plate slogan

Used to have 'warp speed mr sulu' on a previous VTR. No slogan on this one but toying with 'road whore, track bitch' which someone kindly scrawled on the bodywork of my Husaberg supermoto a few years ago at a trackday. In permanent marker. Now I think of it they also wrote 'homo-erotic racing' too b...

Re: Moriwaki titanium zero pipes

A mate of mine had some Moriwakis, they looked crap, made the bike run rough, sexually compromised his pet cat, then drank all the beer in his fridge.

As such I will offer you £50 for them. :biggrin :biggrin

Re: Northwich Thundersprint.

As far as I'm concerned any event that involves letting race bikes hoof it around a town centre is a good thing. I remember a few years ago when the supermoto lads were trying to get a town centre race arranged (on the Wirral I think?) and the council backed out over safety concerns. It would have b...

Re: The cop, the speed bump and, oh dear!!

The Speed bumps down our road only serve to slow down anyone who actually cares about their car. The worst culprits for flying over them are the vans and the mums. The poor kids in the back will probably develop spinal problems.

I have a Chaser Phil Read rep. Comfiest lid I have ever used, not the quietest and a bit chilly in winter but definitely recommended for sheer comfort and build quality.

Re: Harley Davidson

When I had a Buell I test rode some Harley's at Preston HD as they were doing a bit of a demo day. Rode a big fat bird thingy, which had naff all fuel in it, came to fill her up and the filler cap wouldn't release. Back at the shop they couldn't free it up either. Strangely there was no kind of apol...

Re: From Supermoto to the Dirt!

Stuff that, I always used to use the same gearing on my XR whether on sm wheels or knobblies. Saved messing about with the chain. Also used to keep the naff bodywork on it regardless so it was just a case of swapping wheels and front brake assembly (a complete caliper, brake line to lever jobbie)

I've used this stuff with good results on my old Gixxer that had the same problem:
