Cam Chain Tensioners - When should they be replaced?
Hiya, I've got a 98 Firestorm with around 40,000 miles on the clock. It's in for its annual service at the moment and one of the things I asked the mechanic to investigate was a loud, erratic knocking i occasionally hear/feel for 5 - 15 seconds when I fire her up on a morning. It dissappears once I'...

VTR Battery
Hiya, Well my battery has given up the ghost and I need a replacement. To be honest I don't think it's ever been 100% as the bike always took some starting, even when the weather was good (it's a pig when cold). So the question is, do I replace it with exactly the same battery or should a go for som...

Re: Swingarm Bobbins
Thanks for all the comments.
Given what's been said here, I might use the bobbins for oiling the chain, but use the cups if the bikes going to be stood for a while.
Cheers
Chris

PDF of Owners Manual
Hi,
Does anyone out there have a PDF for a 1998 (or similar) owners manual. My bike only came with a Haynes manual and I'm interested to have a look throught he original owners manual.
Cheers

Swingarm Bobbins
Hi, My VTR has swingarm bobbins for use with a paddock stand, but all the other VTR's I've seen (admittedly I've only seen a handful) don't have them. Not only that, they don't appear to have holes for the bobbins to screw in to. Does this mean: A) My bikes got an after market swing arm? B) Some VTR...

Re: Later Firestorm clipons on older Firestorm?
Hiya, Thanks for the feed back. Plenty of food for thought. Oddly enough, I have few discomfort problems on longer runs. However my regular ride is through the traffic jams in to Manchester city centre. It seems the constant braking and clutch work is what does for my wrists and makes my hands numb....

Later Firestorm clipons on older Firestorm?
Hiya, I've read somewhere that the later Firestorms have slightly more comfortable clipon's than the earlier ones. Is it true? Anyone know what the difference between them is? Anyone tried changing to them and noticed a (positive) difference? Or is the difference insignificant? I quite fancy trying ...

Hi
Evening all, Just a very quick post to say hello. As someone new to motorbikes, never mind big V twins (my VTR 1000 is my first bike after selling my YBR 125 on to a fellow learner. Buying the VTR was possibly not the most sensible decision I've ever made, but once I'd heard and ridden it I was sold...
