i think its most likely the slow running jets in your carbs full of sh1t, has the bike been stood a while or had crappy fuel in? i would arm yourself with a can of carb cleaner and strip the carbs and clean them up, checking everything as you go.

is it the same battery that was fitted when the reg/rec went pop? have you tried it with a different battery, may be that yours is f*****d

im pretty sure its throttle wide open with a warm engine, when ive done them ive used a car battery on jump leads to give it the extra spin

there should be an oval on the side wall with 4 numbers week and year ie 25 07 = week commencing 18 july 07,

yeah let me know if you decide to get shot of the rear, not really interested in the macadam, be interesting to know how old it is though

managed to get the day booked off work for the wedsnesday, only had confirmation last night, so all being well i should be there, what time are you all meeting in abergaveny?

thanks benny, will check at some point, just trying to get some ideas before i start pulling stuff apart, it seems more electrical to me as the carbs made no difference.
