Re: I'm feeling all pleased with myself!

The noise was probably why he stuck it on Ebay and was so keen to sell it to me so cheap. It has other minor problems that need sorting such as the cush drive and the head race bearings but all in all a 25k miles bike in really good condition for £1200 isn't half bad. Its got to be worth £1500 all...

Re: I'm feeling all pleased with myself!

Thanks bud  One question for you all though; How much movement should there be on the cush drive on the rear wheel? Mines got loads of slop in it and i suspect they will all need replacing. I only noticed today because i finally managed to get a paddock stand with cups on it. The previous o...

Re: I'm feeling all pleased with myself!

Fingers are crossed. and well done on spotting the potential problem...........Guess it suggest that someone has been in there already and didnt put it back together properly?? is there signs of any work being carried out? And good on you for managimg to re-set it without getting the clutch off.......

I'm feeling all pleased with myself!

Well as some of you will know i have had ongoing problems with a constant rattle coming from the clutch area which was driving me mad. I replaced the CCT's with manual and it made no difference but i feel better rideing the bike knowing they wont fail. Over the last week or so when i could spare som...

Re: CCT's done but the rattle is still there; Ideas please?

I think you may be on to something with the sub gear, if you mean the spring-loaded one which sits alongside the front primary drive gear. It's a bit of a bugger to get together, as I recall, you need the clutch basket completely off to get it to sit right. Then you load it so that it's tensioned o...

Re: CCT's done but the rattle is still there; Ideas please?

JJ, i have had 3 storms, 2 were as smooth as you could hope for, 1 rattled like fook, it still ran fine though, think its just the way it goes. As you said, you have to accept it or get rid. I think the loud pipes are the way to go :) I have one more thing to try before i put it all back together a...

Re: CCT's done but the rattle is still there; Ideas please?

I've come to the conclusion that my rattles are just the way it is meant to be. I had a discussion with a Honda mechanic who has heard the bike running and he talked me through the possibles and areas to check all of which drew a blank. At least i have it all clear in my own head and i dont need to ...

Re: CCT's done but the rattle is still there; Ideas please?

Got it all stripped out and got as far as removing the clutch plates and it all turns freely and is nice and clean with no signs of damage. There has been a problem with the clutch in the past which has scratched the inside of the clutch cover but its al been repaired with new bearings. The only rat...
