Re: Manual CCT's for sale.
I am looking forward to getting a set of these from Tray and taking responsibility for my own cam chain disasters 8O . I just hope I can remember how it goes as I don't think I've had to deal with a manual one since my 400/4. Mostly what I remember from that was it being a total pain with much lubri...

Re: Right then...plates...
The law isn't actually retroactive as such, however if you read the wording carefully you will notice it applies to plates fitted since 2001. The way they know it's been fitted since then is that it should apply to current regulations and have correctly sized lettering and the makers name and postco...

Re: FORUM MEET-UP, SCOTLAND, 8-9th AUGUST
I don't mind being out in the rain, I owned a courier company for a few years in the eighties and have rode down from Aberdeen with ice forming on my knees and all the extraneous edges on the bike, mirrors etc. The real trick is not giving a monkeys about the condition of your bike, but as most of u...

Re: Right then...plates...
I'm in a similar situation. There's no new legislation but they're enforcing a refined version of the original 2001 laws and incorporating the licensing of plate vendors and new MoT inspection advice. It appears that a 9x7 plate is mostly what you end up with when you apply the standard size charact...

Re: I told you so
I think that's the Coulport Panther but that's not as good an alliteration so the press don't use it. I've seen the cougar/puma before way back in the nineties but mentioned it to hardly anyone outside of family and a few friends as I'd had a similar experience in the eighties when a girlfrien...

Re: remavable baffles
Also on the experience thing, I'm concerned about MoT time so I'm curious how much they muffle at tickover speed as most good reports come from flyby's at racing circuits. Not really the issue, as they don't record decibels but if the exhausts say they are not for road use they shouldn't pass. Most...

Wirewalker, what swing arm is that? Looks like it's on upside down! ;-) It's a Metmachex and I know what you mean about the underbrace, it makes it look quite retro, or just "old". The new one is a top brace and more tubular, I think this my one is a triumph of function over form  ht...

This sounded interesting, it would've been an opportunity to tell for sure if the white finger vibration I'm getting is coming from the bike or just another sign of krusty old age! I think I'm heading off down to Kelso though, do you guys do this often? I'd like the opportunity of riding with some o...

Re: remavable baffles
I also would like to benefit from anyones experience of these things as I'm in the same situation as the Ixworth Stormer. I've been on Google all afternoon and I've just had a reply from Scorpion exhausts who are happy to help it seems but will need me to send a picture so they can identify which ty...

Re: AMQ46's storm
Its a fairly basic emulsion type shock from WP with only rebound damping adjustment [12 clicks] not the top of the range fully adjustable. But it has adjustable ride height [so no need for spacers] and I had it valved and sprung for my weight by Revs Racing, hence it is a revolation compared to the...

Re: Crash bobbins - which ones do you rate?
1) can you send me more photos of the seat with the pillion cover off. I am looking at getting mine redone by Tony Archer with gel pads and a bit more foam for the pillion. Also I know you just bought the bike, but if the last owner is still looking on the forums can he tell me who did the seat for...

Re: Crash bobbins - which ones do you rate?
I had Motrax DHM's on mine........... They looked OK and I'm sure they would have saved potential damage with a curb side drop? How effective any are in a major spill-should the bike get flicked up by a grate or drain cover?-I'm not sure. Fortunately never had to test them in anger :) I couldn't ag...

Re: V Twin advice pls read
It certainly doesn't sound good does it? Though I wonder at the phrase "Race Tuned" and how much of an effect that had on the situation. I have heard that after 145bhp even the mighty SP gear drive can fail horribly, the gearboxes apparently "Turn to chocolate" was the phrase use...
