Sorry, been away. There is more info on the moto morini website. Not sure of the url but easy to find in google. Type in moto morini. The 2 bikes shown are a 950 (called 9 and a half) and a 1200. They will be in production from April. Am in comms with the manufacturer. Will post prices when i have em.

sp1 to vtr engine swap

I read somewhere recently that the only common components between a Firestorm and SP1 motor were the valve clearance shims. Also think I am correct in saying that the swingarm on an SP1 does bolt to the engine casing, the frame extends down there, but don't play no part.

cct failure

cct failure is caused by one thing, and one thing only, the spring breaks. Mine broke running on normal oil not synthetic. What causes it to break is crap design, pure and simple. The spring is not up to the job. Vibration, heat, crap material who knows? Point is, these springs break and secondary p...

cct mod

I have posted a pic in the gallery under "misc" called cctmod1. Make up a modded bolt as in the pic and replace the standard end bolt with it. When u reassemble the cct unscrew the modded bolt so that it protrudes slightly into the slot that holds the end of the spring. Retract the cct by ...

Thx for the interesting theories of why these dam things break. Point really is, they do, and what we need is ideas on how to eliminate the problem. Del has done much interesting work on the problem and is testing his mod now. His mod retains the "self adjusting" characteristic of the cct....

The only thing thats "sprung" about a standard cct is the rubber insert behind the steel tip plate. The spring inside the cct is only to take up the slack as the chain wears. It provides no cushioning effect whatsoever. I have designed a mod that turns a standard cct into a manual one for ...

Hi Bluesman
Why are manual cct's out of the question? You might have to adjust em occasionally but u KNOW they are not going to let go. There must be a good reason that racers use them.

My advice would be, don't carry a spare one, just replace em both. Mine just went at low speed (6000 miles), bent valves etc etc.

Its the spring that breaks which allows the slider to slowly retract till you have enough slack for the chain to jump a tooth on the sprocket.
