I hope I never gave the impression that I was averse to training? I also hope I never gave the impression that I was a gimp out of my depth on a sporty bike. I qualified as riding instructor myself in 1994 with Dublin County Council. I've owned an FJ1200 for 40,000 miles, commuting, touring & sc...

Hi All. Don't know whether to shuffle back with tail between legs or with a fanfare . . . I've got a goo again. BMW R1150GS looks good. I'll be saving hard with all the cash from my band's gigs. Early 2008 - R1150GS - fingers crossed. What's changed? Nothing. Don't know. If anything, it's a w...

I knew it wasn't any of you guys. I work in an internet security company (the world's biggest, no less), so we're always watching out for bogey stuff. You'd think our firewall would have caught it, eh?

SPAM

Hi All, I don't know who to tell, but I got what looks like spam from admin on this forum. While I'd love to download "hot bunnies" at will, I'm afraid that my boss doesn't like me to do it. The mail says "please help us, visit our new website" and then gives a link to a url whic...

Ronan,

Sorry mate, I'm on an ECDL course this week - haven't been checking the forum.

A mate lodged €5500 in my account only today, so I'm afraid the FireStorm will be gone by this Friday.

If something goes wrong, I'll let you know.

None taken at all - all my mates and even my wife have been trying to dissuade me. To be fair, I have always liked jeeps - right since I was a kid. Biking only really hit me at around 20 (I'm 35 now). Like I say, with a bit of luck in the future, I will get a dirt bike. For the adrenalin replacement...

Too Many Odds Stacked Against Us

I'm quitting biking. I love my FireStorm. I only have it since Feb 14 - my first time back on bikes since Nov 1999 - and God knows I drove my wife mental whining on about it till she let me get it  . I've been riding bikes since 1992. I stopped riding in November 1999, when my first kid came a...

Dark double bubble on mine since I got it, so don't know if it's better than std. Presume it must be. Never a prob with neck ache, no buffeting, even holds off a bit of rain...

Not daft at all, and if I thought it could be done perfectly and not look like my 3 year-old did it, I'd definitely get it done. And if I can't get a swap (which in thoery should cost nothing but postage), I probably will. I'm sure there are even companies in Dublin that could do it. Would I take th...

Exhaust can repair

I bought my VTR with standard cans fitted, and a pair of seemingly brandless "race" cans (there's a Remus sticker on the bike, but I'm not making any assumptions). The seams between the can caps and the link tubes seem to have failed (both cans) - some sort of bodge has been done (I assume...

Caliper Swap

I posted this in the workshop section - I'm just trying to get as much exposure as I can - personally, I visit bike chat most of the time... I want to fit later-model black front and rear calipers to my '98 FireStorm (purely for cosmetics - my silver bike would look better with black calipers than t...

Cush Rubbers

Lubing & tensioning my chain last night, I noticed play in the rear sprocket carrier - maybe only 1mm, but obviously not good. I'm away for two weeks from this weekend, but I'll replace the cush when I get home. Anyone had any nightmares doing it on a VTR? It was simple on my FJ12.

Speeding & crossing a white line to overtake a police ca

After talking about speeding in Ireland the other day, what did I do? That's right - overtook an unmarked cop car at over 70mph, crossing a continuous white line! Sounds thick, right? He was in front of a tailgating van (he mustn't have known it was a cop car?...), both doing 55 - 60mph The stretch ...
