Cubi, if you have to refill 1lt every 300 miles it means that your VTR is using as much oil as a two stroke engine (2 or 3% of fuel) 8O Either it's heavily leaking or you should clearly see blue smoke from the exhausts. Did you drive with someone behind you to check that? Or at least tried revving t...

I live in Japan but come back to Milan, my home town, about once a year. I do not recall seeing many Storms, as v-twins go I saw more Monsters. Roads in the Alps are great and there are plenty of motorbykers; I am sure you will enjoy. Of course there are limitations on loud pipes but I doubt they ar...

Production of the Japanese model was discontinued in 2003 and the Honda site in Italy reports MY 2005 as the most recent. I guess that's it. Honda still manufactures the Varadero, which has basically the same engine as the VTR... so maybe there is some hope left some day. It's a shame though -- I li...

Hmm, I do bits and pieces myself already but as barrioplano says, you end up buying special tools etc... Having said so, changing the brake/clutch fluids really requires minimal tools... and it is something I do once a year, when I see the color of the fluid has changed. The chain adjustment is not...

My rule of thumb is to do myself whatever I will probably do more than once -- changing brake fluid, brake pads, oil etc being the first candidates. If I embark into something I will do only once I end up spending the same as at a dealer (including tools, time, things I break, injuries I make to mys...

Spark plugs are 18mm -- I just changed them and still have the old ones around so I could measure them. Also I can confirm you need to remove the metal thingy from the ending opposite the electrode. If you use Iridium plugs you should not need to check the gap; if you really want to check it you nee...

The Sargent saddle was delivered all right! Looking forward for the next long drive to see if my butt gets a little less sore. Only disappointment is that GForcecycles initially quoted me one price but then when I placed the order they raised it by 10 USD claiming Sargent had increased prices to res...

MRA has a perfect fit but it also has a little problem: it comes wth piece of rubber that you have to fit on its edge (the edge facing you when you sit on the bike) and that comes off VERY easily. This is a disturbing detail for a piece of plaxiglas I paid 70 Euro  On top of this the folks at ...
