Love the VTR but here is my wish list, should there be a 2005 model: Please no exhaust under the seat! Increase storage space instead (and make the seat easier to remove). Driving very quietly (mostly 2/4000 rpm) I get 12.5 km/l when commuting in Tokyo and 15 km/l when driving out of town...

Thank you... I bought my Storm new last October and in Japan as well you get a one year guarantee. From what you say (one eggcup of oil between changes etc etc) it definitely looks like a visit to the dealer is in my near future

Hmm, does not look like good news... I replace the original oil with Castrol Activ 4T (10W40 synthetic based) and replaced the filter at 1000 km. I do not think I have done anything bad...

my brand new Firestorm lost (burnt) more that half a litre oil in its first 4000km after the 1000km check... the bike I previously owned (a Honda VTR250) traveled 45.000km and not even once I needed to refill the oil.

How about you guys? do you experience a similar oil consumption?

The manual of my 2003 VTR Japanese model reports the following:

Front Fork: Preload fourth groove from top (level with fork top), Rebound one turn from seated (marks should be aligned)

Rear: preload position 3 of 7 (from bottom), rebound (both) one turn from seated (marks should be aligned)
