Re: T-reg Orange

Probably me then :D

(high pipes caked in mud and the rider wearing back pack and Rossi helmet).

Bike has now covered 145k, only issue has been broken cct at 129k. Not worth the effort washing it with the mileage I do - poor thing.

Re: An Orange Storm on Hendon Lane, Finchley

Hi m8y, The dirt is the only thing holding it together! Guess you went straight on at the roundabout, I live near Peterborough so went right :) I've never really noticed the cans, they are Motad Venom, have removable baffles but the baffles are still in - I can't get the bloody things of fthe link p...

Re: HID kit??

I fitted a HID kit from HIDS4U, the bulb has a reflector at the front in the same position as the black bit on normal bulbs. The beam pattern is wide but very 'cut' off, I have been behind police cars etc and have not been stopped or been flashed by oncoming vehicles but can now see where I'm going ...

Re: HID headlight, are they safe?

Ironically I had a wire short out at night (underneath the instruments) and left me with no lights on an unlit twisty road and that was a normal bulb, fortunately there was enough moonlight to see the road to slow down. The HIDS bulbs have a much longer life and are not susceptible to vibration and ...

Re: What is stashed under your seat?

I got it through a guy called Shane Cooper on the VTR yahoo list (spookoverload@gmail.com), he deals with HIDS4U and fits their gear, I think they were a bit reluctant to split the kit, ideally 2 people get together and buy the 1 car kit and split it - it's a complete setup for each headlamp. They a...

Re: What is stashed under your seat?

Sirch m8, Fitted a HIDS4U kit, basically half a car kit with the uprated supreme vision bulb. Bloody impressive, wide spread and a lovely white (very slightly blue) it is the 4300K bulb so has the higher light output. The reflections from cats eyes, signs etc are very bright, really see the differen...

Re: what carb' settings for open cans?

Stock needles don't have notches, those are dynojet jobbies. The dynojet kit recommends 180 jets, needle on 4th notch from top and reusing stock shim and mixture screw 2 turns out from fully in.

Re: Sidelight upgrade

The reflector in mine had lost all its 'shine' so I thought I could glue some tin-foil on it. Seemed to make a bit of a difference, when I took the cover off after a few months, the tin-foil had disintegrated and the bulb was a sort of chrome plate - weird, can't remember too much about school/colle...

Re: Petition Government against bike road tax rise

Did you see the response to the last petition to get rid of that insane 'speeding' chief constable Huges, or whatever his name is, complete baldrocks. I shall of course sign and await the usual response which amounts to 'f**k off'

Re: What is stashed under your seat?

Loads of extra wires for all the pluggy in things I use - pump for the Pro-oiler, Tyre plugger thingie (I seem to get punctures in 3's), spare headlamp bulb, tho' having just switched to a HIDS I can do away with that, then have a bit of room to stash some other small bit of crap.

Re: Howdy peeps

I would probably think twice before buying a high mileage bike myself. But they clearly can go on and on...........and on! As mentioned previously, my heap is a workhorse, gets used and abused and I cover 20-30k a year. I ended up with a stack of spares whilst sorting the CCT failure and to be fair ...

Re: Howdy peeps

Well, all up and running since tuesday, seems to be going well. i took the opportunity to fit a dynojet kit that I've had for ages but hadn't got round to fitting. Bike definately pulls a bit better but at a cost, seem to have lost about 20 miles to RLOD - clearly needs a dyno check! The bike had al...

Re: Howdy peeps

Hi chaps, Piston is fine, couldn't see any marks where it had hit the valves but all 4 are bent. The piston is actually quite clean, still see the metal, only the centre is black but seems to be decocking itself in the garage as the coke is getting soft and peeling off in the damp air :D I received ...

:)

I've picked up a used cylinder head off ebay - cant be bothered to dismantle all the fiddly bits. Hopefully that will be a straight bolt on.

Cheers
