Time to ride again...which bike No more biking for me

2 years later and I need to ride again.
VTR100's are scarce in SA...whats the next best twin?

SV1000, with slighty higher bars should make a decent twin ....no ?

Your thoughts,

Re: No more biking for me

Ok so it's just on a year after the accident and I am 90% there...

Aching to find me a Storm, but they are scarce in SA.

Whats the next best option...I am not too keen on the Suzuki twin ...

Hows about a Triumph 675, unless someone can send over a Storm at a decent price ? :)

Re: No more biking for me

Thanks for all the positive replies guys.....bikers just seem so different in that way...

Everyday is better, with less pain and more movement.

No more biking for me

On 20 Feb, as I was leaving Kyalami, the front wheel tucked in on some loose gravel, the bike connected some concrete bollards, bounced, and came down on top of me. Two weeks in ICU, ...broken right foot, broken pelvis, 4 ribs, 4 vertebrae, and right shoulder...the ball broke off in the shoulder soc...

Re: occasional fault/missfire

The NGK caps come in a viety of options, straight L shaped

I got the L shaped option, but the "old" sheath will not fit.

I have been using it and there was no muck build up.

Re: occasional fault/missfire

Replace the Spark Plug caps I was battling with a intermittent misfire for months, and eventually, I found the problem in the Spark Plug Caps. There is a resistor in the cap, that fails, and causes all the drama. I replaced mine with NGK caps, and the bike has never been better. Have a look at the p...

Re: Carburettor heater

It is not so much the rugby that concerns me, the UK cricket team is scary these days...they should take the World Cup next month. Hey the sun is not so much around any more, we have rain 80% of the time in our summers the past few years, todat it rained so much my pool is overflowing & flooding...

Re: Carburettor heater

I removed the water hoses completely ....no problem. Down here in South Africa the climate is hot all year round.... Due to heat soak from the engine, the carbs can get quite HOT, and the water floating through the carb body will dissapate the heat. Instead I have a insulation wrapping at the bottom...

Re: Is this a 16lt or 19lt tank?

Hi steve, I did not buy the tank. The cost of the tank plus the respray does not justify the 3lt increase in capacity.

We have gas stations here ebery few kms.

So I did not buy the unit.

Whats ur email adress, and I will forward you the Honda dealers info.

Re: Airbox modding

Guys go get a PiperCross Airfilter...

Since I installed this filter, the midrange flat spot is gone, the bike just pulls smooth and cleanly all the way to 9500...

The best the bike has ever felt since I bought it 3yrs ago.

I made no other changes, just the filter in place of the BMC filter.

Re: Airbox modding

Got myself a Pipercross filter today...see attched pic.

The Pipercross is NOT a "gauze" filter like the BMC, it is a "sponge" filter.

Will drop it in tomorrow and see what it does.

Re: Carb balance problem

Hose are properly connected. No the front hose is capped off with a allen cap, which I remove when I connect the hose from the balancer. What I noticed is that when i run the bike, and open this hose the revs pickup, and slow down, when i close it, but that is normal I think as opening the hose will...
