Simple solution is just to replace CCTs before 16,000 miles. Then you can buy the stock item and have peace of mind.
Since this interval matches with spark plug change, it will only take an extra 20 minutes to fit new CCT's. Thats all it took me and at £ 26 per CCT its cheap insurance.

Tomorrow has passed and, was I lucky ! After fitting the new CCT today the engine cranked over with no odd sounds, the compression test passed, and the engine ran perfectly when the plugs and tank was fitted. In fact it sounds better than ever. I cannot believe why there was no damage. So I strongly...

CCT problems
I have just checked former postings for info on CCT's because my front CCT went at 16,000 miles and the bike is now under inspection downstairs in my home garage. The CCT spring failed, as seems to be common between 12,000 to 20,000 miles. Since the replacement honda CCT only costs £26.00 its a pit...

Brittany Ferries is buying a new faster boat for the Spain route. The crossing time will reduce from 24 to 18 hours. You can pick up the first available sailing dates and times for this high speed service at http://www.TouringEurope.org I used the 24 hour Brit Ferry last year. The time passed by ver...

STOP RIDING IMMEDIATELY
STOP RIDING IMMEDIATELY: I just found the same on my bike. Just a tad of side play on the rear rim. Took off the wheel to have a new tyre fitted (not because of the play). I found the inner race was about to fall out. Took out the seal and the balls fell out with loads of cage debris. This debris sc...

Steering Technique
If you are studying to perfect your cornering, then you should also practice how to alter your line whilst you are already halfway into your turn. You will need to be able to tighten, or loosen the turn whilst your bike is leaned over, automatically and without hestitation. Anyone like to list the a...

Touring France
I just bought a secondhand VTR1000 (98) and am still learning how to ride it.
Has anyone any experience of touring on one of these things?
Like, whats it like for baggage and what kind of back, wrist and elbow pains set-in during each day?
