Re: Spring rates fireblade shock

Seems like im aswell just replacing the standard shock back in as is and do more homework on other sh...

Re: Spring rates fireblade shock

Thanks Jamie .. But I've no compression damping on my vtr shock ... That I can see anyway .. Only one adjuster at the bottom ? Im just after something that has more adjustment available .. If it was possible to have all the leverage forces figures for a whole range of bikes it must be possible to ho...

Re: Spring rates fireblade shock

.. hmm I can honestly say that looking and measuring both, swapping the lower part would bring the cbr shock to exactly the same fully extended height if you like .. Ive got kit for heating up nuts and bolts so if needed shouldnt be an issue .. yes it is a bit of an experiment, as I said earlier the...

Re: Spring rates fireblade shock

Interesting reading guys .. The shock I have got hold of is from a 90s cbr fireblade with a separate reservoir and adjuster for compression I would imagine. Ive cleaned up both the original firestorm and cbr shock and played about with the settings with the springs removed. On both the adjuster and ...

Re: remove shock without taking off exhaust ..

Re: remove shock without taking off exhaust ..

yeah thanks I read through some of these .. it seems he has made an extention for the shock so that it fits the firestorm mounts. I am thinking it may be better to make up a top mount bracket with a 40mm block spacer and a longer bolt so to bring the top mounting point downwards from the frame saddl...

Re: remove shock without taking off exhaust ..

Update for interest Managed to wrangle the complete shock unit and still attached top mount bracket from the rear of the bike by simply taking out the swingarm bolt and dropping it to the ground .. Lots simpler that exhaust removal .. All bushes and pivots really good nick and moving freely which wa...

Re: remove shock without taking off exhaust ..

.. mm thanks for thr quick replies guys.. Yes hadnt thought of taking the whole swingarm off, which would obviously generate lots of space, but again such a lot of hassle just to take out one component .. grr After years of mucking about and maintaining old cars and the like I am very much of the at...

Re: how to adjust manual cam chain tensioner?

Yes .. ive wondered the same for ages.. fitted mine which i made up myself out of a redundant set of tensioners and a five inch long coach bolt with a welded nut on the end and a locknut next to the tensioner body. I basically followed sirchs instructions and tried to lock the old tensioner in posit...

Re: Loud Popping On De-acceleration

I love this .. i actually have a wee system set up where I can switch on a vacuum valve to open the carb balance nozzle to air hence sucking in more air after the carbs .. this makes for some quite spectacular pops and bangs on the overrun esp when hot .. !! its is car alarm set off down the high st...
