Re: Fairing removal

Be grateful, Firestorm owners.
Compared to an SP, its the work of moments....

But I use an old rugby shirt spread across the tank with the arms pushed in behind the top mounting brackets so that you don't chip the paint on the fairing as you spread it just enough to clear....

Re: a bit of spondoness.

It's very clever, but is it a solution to a question no-one actually asked? Other questions might be how can I make a house out of plasticene and will thinking about cabbages make my hair grow back? How can I get my hands on the cadcam programming for an SP2 upper and lower yoke without paying for i...

Re: FI light non starter

Fuel pump? That's the most likely culprit, but if its started twice at random, check the wiring and fuse supplying it first.

Re: Race/track day van

I had a Renault master medium wheelbase high top ex-disability vehicle, it was great. We sold it for a grand with 110k miles, still running, still with an mot. They're out there. One tip: you need van insurance, it's not that common so not particularly cheap. Any powered lift at the back won't have ...

Re: insurance grumble (nothing new im sure)

Well, that rolled round quick! Insurance time again.SP2 with mods quoted was 157.59, and they will add the CB600F in mid April when that comes up, don't know how much but they reckon cheaper than insuring it separately. That's with two speedings and a 2 month ban in the last 5 years. Being old is no...

Re: I have a swimming pool!

They came, dug. hole in the grass verge, another one in a flower bed near the front door; sent down a mole to join the two holes up and fed a length of plastic pipe in to replace the broken steel original. No leaks now, but no swimming pool..... No charge though, so all good there. The only speedos ...

Re: Header heat protection.

Yeah i can see how overuse of worm gear clamps would irk a seasoned mechanic fixing other peoples bodges all the time,, buut they are a wonderous thing! And i dont mean to be condescending, but the problem you will have with the T-bolt clamp, is; a) you wont really be able to open it over any flang...

Re: MotoGP Qatar

Thanks for this.
I found that I had a free 3 month trial of bt sports with ee so set that up.
I can watch the first few races, after that bsb and wsb are underway so by then one of the terrestrial channels will carry highlights, I expect.

Re: Engine Loses Power after 1.5 miles

I agree that it sounds like fuelling. You could try riding it until it misbehaves then cut the engine after a couple of minutes and check the spark plug colours. That should show which cylinder is affected or whether its both. If so, it will either affect both carbs or only one, and you need to find...

Re: Perennial Squid. New to Vtr

One option is to fit a four-row oil cooler from an SP1 or 2.
That helps to keep it from overheating.

It's not a straight bolt-on, you have to get lines made up utilising the fittings from the std one.
