Re: Doesn't like the rain

thanks guys, as helpful as ever. I should have remembered about that drain hole - I saw it mentioned before. I'll give it a go. Might leave the guttering suggestion as a last resort though!

Doesn't like the rain

Anyone got any simple cures for a Storm which hates the rain? Anything more than heavy drizzle and she quickly starts misfiring, no revs and eventually cuts out. After leaving it for five or ten minutes, normally starts again and runs OK until gets wet again. Have tried silocn sealant on the front p...

52 reg blue on on M25

Very tidy 52 reg blue storm on M25 between junctions 10 & 11 on saturday afternoon about 2:15pm. Was with two other bikes but too busy checking the VTR to notice what they were.

Good advice as always.

Pete, like your suggestion re cleaning the bearings and then re-fitting them turned 180 degrees. Might give that a try.

Take it from someone who followed the haynes manual religiously and ended up having to have a new exhaust valve fitted. The link which Chris refers to above enabled me to get it back working again. Ignore it at your peril!

Last week, when my bike was MOT'd, tester noted as an advisory "Slight notchiness in head bearing" but obviously didn't think it was bad enough to fail. He also demonstrated it by balancing bike on the sidestand and I could just detect what he meant but it was quite faint. My bike has done...

Tony, Sorry only just seen this post and looks like you are sorted now. We went to Valencia last year and had a great time. Bought our tickets direct from the circuit website (now on sale for 2008). They have a good system where you can collect the tickets from different places all over the city on ...

Thanks for the replies - as helpful as ever. I hope I can now finally finish this job.

Sirch, don't worry I have turned it over by hand at least five times - won't make that mistake again!!

Valve timing (again)

Sorry to bring up this subject again which seems to have been covered in so many previous threads but I am trying to get my bike back on the road after a disastrous CCT episode (incl new valves) and am determined not to do any more damage. The problem is that all of the advice I have seen here and e...

Stratman, Thanks for the suggestions. As I still had the tank in place, you gave me the idea of simply taking off the vacuum pipe and fitting another pipe which I sucked on while startiing the engine. It worked and she started almost immediately. However it sounds awful with a tapping sound coming f...

After many weeks, have finally managed to get back to fixing the bike after CCT disaster.Valve timing reset, engine now turns over OK, put it all back together but won't start. Starter motor turns it over OK but no sign of it firing up. When I took it apart again to see if I had put it back together...

If you look at the Bike won't start thread, you can see that I am still trying to repair my bike after doing just that. I realised that the CCTs needed replacing, looked at the Haynes manual and like you, thought it seemed quite straightforward. How I wish I had found this Forum first and had the be...

Pete/Chris, I know its been weeks since you last gave me some advice on the above problem but I have been away and only just now able to get back in the garage. Have removed both cam covers and can see that the problem is with the rear cylinder. The cam lobes on the exhaust valves are the only ones ...
