Something to consider: By bending, it may have absorbed impact that would have been transferred to the bike if it had been more rigid. Sort of like helmet padding, car crumple zones etc. I know what you mean about higher accident speeds, but hard impacts put a lot of stress on components no matter h...

I'd be very surprised if they weren't identical.
To be sure, check with your local Honda dealer - if the part numbers are the same, Bingo.

I'm about your weight, I've got 2 rings showing, front preload I find going to pos 3 on rear preload makes a difference. with good tyres (010 / 020 combo on mine) , steering is absolutely beautiful; light and neutral. Had 4mm spacer under shock mount for a while, this gives a tighter line, but I thi...

Thanks for the post - very useful info.
Mine is 20months old now, so will have a go at what you did prior to the 2 years being up.

Cheers,

Havent got one with me, but have a look in the trade section of AMCN - there's a place that normally advertises VTR fairing lowers. Cant think of their name, but I'm sure they are normally there.
Also, you could try anybody that imports from the US - Ducati seems to be the biggest market..

Removing the fairing

and getting it back on properly. This post is for people like me who aren't really confident with playing with their bikes too much, but do like to have a go. I just removed the VTR's fairing to clean underneath. It turned out to be easier than I thought, and I'd actually removed some screws etc tha...

Thanks lots, people. I think trimming fairing + screen is what I'll go for, but not with my originals - I'll try and find the sides at wreckers, then get another aftermarket screen. Essexbloke, thanks for the tip, but I'm in Australia and having just put new tyres on (010/020) will have to wait unti...

Fairing off / streetfighter questions

I'd like to put a Hornet or similar type of bar in place of my stock clip ons, to raise the height and give more leverage. This is unlikely to work with the stock fairing and screen. I'm worried about heat x-change through the side mounted radiators if I take the fairing off. Has anyone done it on a...

LOOPY - dont underestimate yourself, or your storm. You may go no faster on and SP-2 on the road than you do on your Storm, especially if you put a small portion of the trade-in cost towards setting the suspension up just for you. The VTR is capable enough, when well set up, to go more than fast eno...

Woohoo! Also, BIKE and Performance Bike have recently tested the 'Storm and it's fared very well. There'd been nothing I'd seen about the VTR in international press for ages, despite it being a current model and selling pretty well. It's good too see the bike getting the recognition it deserves. Now...

Firestorm-al, I hear you mate, my Yoshi's nearly hit the trading post once, until I tried the stockers again for a laugh........ I know I dont really NEED a bike, but looking back, I dont regret making sacrifices to keep one- NEED is such a subjective word.... Masu- thanks for all that. I'm in Austr...

Masu, thanks for the feedback. As sole bread-winner at the moment, it's hard to justify the complete front end job and I'd been wondering about the value of just putting the springs in for now (I cant use the front brake too hard at the moment or it skips over bumps - no travel left). I'm wary about...
