Re: Bigger Bore Etc

I'm sure the flow commander is a nice piece, but I know mine works and it's cheap. For me...nuff said.

Re: Cam chain tensioner

Here's a link on how to rebuild your OEM unit, I can guide you on how to improve it for the sake of longevity if you like. If you go the manual route, I only recommend APE from direct experience. Just make sure you set the tension correctly and use green loctite on the CCT hardware or an equivalent....

Re: Bigger Bore Etc

Ok, so, as far as the bore goes they are not coated in any way. They are an iron sleeve that is cast in place and could be bored out for a new sleeve but I think it would be a lot of effort without much gain. The bore is 1mm OS at 99mm and the pistons from JE are the same as they offer in the catalo...

Re: Bigger Bore Etc

Just a quick update on all that has transpired: I have not had much time to get back on the dyno so I suspect that it will have to wait until spring. No big deal. The delwood stacks are a real nice addition and work quite well with a flow control and a DJ kit, it is definitely worth getting a set of...

Re: Bigger Bore Etc

No joke, I'm salivating at the thought. But, I noticed today that I managed to complete an entire season of riding without breaking anything....So, I thought I might let it go for one more before I pull the motor. I added the delwood stacks a K&N and for kicks I added a dynojet kit that I had la...

PAIR/PCV Mod

I had a little time recently to try a mod that is done on CBR's commonly and thought I'd share it. On the CBR it's a really easy affair to redirect the PCV to the PAIR. In doing this you reduce the internal airbox temps which I find to be around 107f normally and you still get a positive crankcase v...

Re: Bigger Bore Etc

And here she is well under way again. The balanced assembly is back together and in the block with the 99mm JE's, happy as a clam. Everything is back from cryo treatment and the pistons have their ceramic coating on top for good measure. The RC trans is coming along nicely and I'm just waiting on so...

Re: Bigger Bore Etc

And another update... I got the rotating assembly back from the balancer today and I am pleased to report that it did not require much to make it balanced. A few grams here and there and all is right with the world. Oddly enough, this is the second time a VTR connecting rod was significantly differe...

Re: Bigger Bore Etc

Alright here it is, I finally had a chance to get to the dyno and the results are in. Jetting is still way too fat so I'm working on that today but the hard numbers are: HP: 107.6 @ 8951 =+ 9 Hp Tq: 70 lb/ft @ 7050 rpm = +5 ftlb Essentially it is making more power and torque everywhere with respecta...

Re: Known Cam Specs

Ok one last thing and I'll drop it... If anyone else were to offer engine building services or power adders and the like...they would be expected to show specifics such as cam specs, dyno sheets, compression ratio's, timing advance and so on. If they could not come up with that data, I can't imagine...

Re: Known Cam Specs

With all due respect I believe you have an ethical responsibility to the members of this forum and others. The V has long been out of production and racing and I am certain that HRC could not possibly care less about it. To the point of technical data, you could certainly provide more than you have ...

Re: More fun calculations

With shipping it works out to about 10$ a bolt. If I remember correctly that's about 2$ more than the Honda bolts but that's not really the point. I think the OEM bolts are likely fine in most cases. I went with ARP because they are very high quality, affordable, and will ensure as much as possible ...
