Re: Another Motobloat!
Promise this is the last question, and potentially, the dumbest. I got an R/R from Wemoto that states 'uses Mosfet technology'. Good enough for me. Anyway, I've plonked it on and was just curious as to whether, what I assume is the Earth, is on correctly, or whether, in-fact, it matters that much at...

Re: Another Motobloat!
Seems a bit rich, asking for a refund on a CBR125 RR, that doesn't work on a VTR1000
Worth a shot though, lol.

Re: Another Motobloat!
Hmmm... I'm a bit stuck in that case... I'd say it's uncomfortably hot if you hold your finger on it for 10 seconds. Another perculiar feature, it seems the voltage at idle is 13.6v and it then goes down to 13.3v as the rpm climbs. That can't be right, surely? The old rr used to idle at 12.5v and st...

Re: Another Motobloat!
Just one more thing... I've plonked the reg/rec from a CBR125 on. Now the max voltage at 5000rpm is 13.3v. Also, the reg/rec is getting quite hot after 5 mins of idle, when stationary. Does that all sound normal? Thanks again! P.s no signs of scorching under the sheath or the previous reg/rec and as...

Re: Another Motobloat!
Ok, will do. If they're scorched, is that a case of chopping off the bad stuff and soldering on some fresh connectors? Take a look first and see what they are like. Here's what you need to be looking for sitting in that opaque sheath that sits behind the fuel tank in front of the battery. It's the ...

Re: Another Motobloat!
Whatever you do check those block terminal connectors that I covered in my previous post, Chris. Also, am I right in thinking an Sh691aa MOSFET r/r, off a CBR 125, will work as a straight swap? They seem to be a 3rd of the price from a breaker... It will be a straight swap but it will not be a Mosf...

Re: Another Motobloat!
I think you may actually be right. Just found this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyWNPgHsC5I To save you watching it, bascially, the geezer has the same problem as me, but on a ZZR600, by the looks of it. It's not until riding the bike and getting a bit of heat into the reg/rec that it sta...

Re: Another Motobloat!
Forgive me, I'm new to electrics. When measuring the voltage across the battery terminals, would I necessarily see the voltage jump past 14.3V at 5k rpm, if there was a short or my reg/rec was toast? Or is the problem likely to be a bit more intermittent? The reason I ask, is because the multimeter ...

Another Motobloat!
Afternoon all, Have a few battery problems... After a spirited ride, my Storm started to smell of rotten eggs. When I came to a stop, I found a nicely swollen Motobatt. I've replaced it with a Vertex from M&P, just to try and diagnose the fault, but I'm a bit lost. With the new battery on and th...

Re: Brake Judder
Just a quick update. As recommended, I roughed up the disc and pads, cleaned the lever pivot and also lightly lubed the slider pin. And...all problems have disappeared! It'll be interesting to see if the problem returns. If it does, would that suggest that binding is causing the glazing (both the p...

Re: Brake Judder
Try de-glazing the pads first. On another note, I've found EBC HH pads to be, how do you say it politely, sub optimum compared to Brembo or SBS. Thanks for your replies, yeah, a quick pad inspection won't cost a thing and it might reveal something. In the meantime, I'll rely on the ridiculous amoun...

Brake Judder
Hi all, thanks for having me, lol. I wonder if anyone can help me get to the bottom of this brake judder. I recently put a new pair of EBC HH pads on my Storm. I never noticed it before, but I’ve started to get the following symptoms: 1. Vibration when braking hard at 70mph 2. Level oscillation at l...
