Re: Your top speed

Approx 1 mph (in reverse) so far as it was wheeled out the back of a van.

Hopefully when I sort the carbs it will be a little quicker

Returning my Carbs to standard?

Hi all The VTR I have recently inherited (1998) appears to have had a Stage 1 Dynojet fitted at some stage, which was not removed when one of the other 12 owners sold it (presumably having put the stock exhausts and air filter back). This probably explains why it ran like a dog and my mate Robin gav...

Re: Previous owners...gotta love them

Thanks Wicky. I was shopping about 7am :D

Today I've had the joy of discovering what isn't holding the headlight and one of the radiators on!

You know that feeling when you start something and begin to wonder why....

Previous owners...gotta love them

So as I begin to examine my new VTR project I'm finding the usual mix of surprises. Apparently holding the tail light on with a single decking screw bodged with a washer and a bit of rubber tube is acceptable. I wonder what the part number for that is? On a brighter note MCCT'S have been done alread...

Newbie question

Without wishing to start a virtual riot how much does this forum overlap with Facebook? I appreciate there's a wealth of information on here, and I don't necessarily want to wind people up by asking the same questions in both places....

Cheers - John

Re: Just inherited a 1998 VTR1000F

Welcome in to the world of the Storm... For a bike thats been standing that looks nice & clean. It looks as if it's been repainted at some stage, if you have a look on the curb side top rail of the subframe, just pop the seat off, the lock is under the rear light just north of the number plate ...

Re: Just inherited a 1998 VTR1000F

I've seen worse colour schemes! The rear light is meant to be a little floppy to stop filaments breaking too often. It can be tightened up a little using rubber washers, tap washers are cheap and don't rot when wet unlike some rubber ones. If you unplug the two ECU boxes in the tail you can get eno...

Just inherited a 1998 VTR1000F

I am now the (hopefully not unlucky) 13th keeper of a 1998 Firestorm. It hasn't been out to play for a while, and a quick look through this forum (thank you) means that starter motor and carbs are high on my list of things to pay attention to. (It starts reluctantly and runs by no means smoothly). I...
