Re: Changing wiring loom difficulty

One of the bolts that holds reg/rec on had the nut threaded (and it's welded to the frame), so couldn't use that. So drilled new hole in the plate that it mounts on so r/r was at a slightly different angle. Drilled another hole for the earth so it gets a good connection while I was at it. So it is s...

Re: Indicator relay

Both sides do the same as do front and rear. Clicks a couple of times as in the video, then they work as normal.

Not sure if it's quite enough to fail an MOT. Not quite got to that stage yet.

Re: Indicator relay

The indicators seem to be OK. They are brand new. I changed the connectors on the front ones as the bullet connectors were terrible. Rear ones seem to be OK. May change them for the newer waterproof connectors too though.

Bit of a nigly issue but will get there!

Indicator relay

So now that I've got the bike running again, the only slight issue is the indicators. I only got one standard one with the bike so just got some aftermarket non-LED ones. Got a video that shows that they do work but I get a couple of clicks of the relay first. Occasionally it doesn't do it, but most...

Re: Changing wiring loom difficulty

No. Bought one just in case but first plan was to unplug as much as possible to see if the 30A still blew. But we were testing the new starter relay that we'd put in before and that seemed fine. So started checking the things plugged in after that and the reg/rec was giving all sorts of strange read...

Re: Changing wiring loom difficulty

After an hour so with a friend with decent electric skills and a multimeter, seems the reg/rec is causing it. So new one coming this week. So managed to get lights/dashboard all working. Should fire up fine once the reg/rec arrives and is fitted. Might extend the ground wire to the battery instead t...

Re: Changing wiring loom difficulty

Is it weird that I'm kinda looking forward to changing it?

I build and repair computers all the time, so it's just a bigger version of that!

Re: Changing wiring loom difficulty

Cheers Mac.

I know you'd given me price for one, but found one on eBay for under £50 that is off a bike with less than 5000 miles on it, looks clean and is totally uncut and unmodified.

So worth that to get more for the bike.

Changing wiring loom difficulty

Hi,

Is changing the wiring loom especially tricky or just time consuming?

Is it all just connectors to plug in? I'm happy enough getting access everywhere but never done it before so wanted to check and get people's thoughts.

Cheers

Fuse box

So this is the state of the fuse box. Have tried some contact cleaner but think it could be beyond saving. Was still popping the main 30A fuse with all these removed, but could easily be a short in there. Can you replace just the fuse box as I can't find a part on the fiche or anything on eBay. Chee...

Re: Spares or repair??

Anyone interested in buying the bike as is then? £1k which I think it's fair given all the bits on it.

Here's a list of parts with prices.
