Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

:D it will. Still bugs me why the bearing went so quick. I pressed it on carefully, well pulled it on using plates, studs and a tube on the centre race. It was lubed well and the clutch was torqued up with a wedge between the gears, not gunned on. I now have a clutch holding tool and the bearing wil...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Stripped it down again for one more go at the mainshaft brg, which got noisy after 350 miles. Dead easy to pull the engine this time with the frame roped at each end to the rafters. Bearing is a bit rough but not like the original I replaced last Yr. Did manage to score a NOS mainshaft for very litt...

Well I watched it. Yes the days when we fixed things and didn't obsolete them until they'd been rebuilt at least
half a dozen times. Love that style of commentary!

Nice when it's a simple fix, just a lot of work to get to those jets!
Pr4s just fitted replacing old bt023's. They'll handle my slow pace easily🤣.

Re: Worth replacing fork springs?

I just did mine after 5500 miles, definitely worth it. I used weight spec springs, 5w oil and the control rod taper and extra hole mod. Too stiff on std honda settings so I adjusted by static sag method. Cant comment on the improved compression and rebound control as I don't push very hard but it's ...

Perfectly understandible for someone used to synching Amals😁. I use carbtune but by ear gets you very close.

Re: New paddock stands

I have similar and the rear is a breeze once the pads are modified for width. The front is a bit of a faff and I'd agree it's not great but does the job despite the ends bending a fair bit :(
I'd not want to lift anything heavier with them...

Re: Access Granted

Welcome too. Mine was an unmolested example bought 2 yrs ago at yr original budget. I've since put over 5k on it so it's dropped hugely but as it was bought to use I'm not bothered. There's guys on here with bigger mileage bikes and they're a lot of comparatively cheap fun so don't worry what you pa...

Re: Newbie from Exeter

Welcome, lots of great advice and help on here along with the workshop knowledge. Your post is weird in that my first big? Bike was a 3ta, all 18.5hp, later t90'd and blown up. I also chopperised it with a purple tank, 6" slugs and rigid rear struts 😬We knew what we was doing in 71!

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Completed tyre change and fitting a new rear was a breeze compared to removing it😬. None of the Internet help was any use until I wedged the beads in the rim centre with offcuts of wood. Only then could I spoon it off. Front is half scrubbed in and looks like it's dry enough Saturday to do the rear...

Re: Firestorm Italian Red Paint - Rattle Can Equivalent

Just be warned that early and late Italian Reds are not the same. Not sure when it changed but maybe pre 2001 its more orange. I owned a 98 for a week and my 03 is different. Any plastics you buy, huggers, belly pans etc. are the earlier shade. No mention of this when you buy a can however :? RS sho...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Just had a flu jab but you have to be old to get that on the nhs🙄. Doesn't stop colds from grandkids though... Pulled the old front bt023, took some bead breaking in vice and what a stiff old piece of rubber (nov 2011 code) compared to new michelin which is also 1/2 lb lighter. The rear looks like a...
