Re: Degreeing Mega Cycle Cams
I was doing a bit of reading on the subject and it seems that many different aftermarket cam manufactures measure from 0.050" lift but oem are from 0.040" (1mm) I would imagine that everywhere besides Canada and the USA uses 1mm as standard... for some reason we seem to be stuck on using i...

Re: Degreeing Mega Cycle Cams
Let be honest and say I cannot give advice which is 100% correct. I know that oem and stg1 cams operate somewhere between 20-26 BTDC and 50-55 BBDC.Your cams are quite extreme, duration is even longer than Moriwaki stg2 cams, and the closest I found were info on Kent cams and Webcam cams. Another p...

Re: Degreeing Mega Cycle Cams
Post the cams informations - duration, valve lift, and then we can assume some starting point. I did this way with my cams 256 deg duration and 10,3 mm lift. For sure factory timing is applicable just to oem cams. They dont give much info about them, this is all I have. my cams are the ones with 27...

Degreeing Mega Cycle Cams
So Ive been working away at building the vtr.... Again I've begun assembling the heads. I have fitted 1mm OS intake valves with some porting in the throat area, stiffer high lift valve springs, new buckets and stage 2 Mega Cycle cams. Is it such a bad idea to leave the timing in the stock position? ...

Re: Stage 2 Cam Valve Springs
I think a STG 3 vtr uses a forged crank to handle high rpm and is very well balanced.. and even then probably doesn't rev much past 10k I wonder if the stg 3 rev ceiling is posted here somewhere.. i am very interested in the specs of the stage 3 bike ive been digging around and haven't been able to...

Re: Jerky feeling at 60mph
Thankyou Mac Ill have a good read.. Good Info there for sure. usually carb maintenence will help with things like this. Also very easy to check the slides are operating properly if you have it apart. Just take off airbox lid and use your fingers to move slides up and release together. If one is sti...

Re: high RPM misfire
I know that coils like to do that at high rpm when they are failing... They will work fine at lower rpm, but as you put more load on them (rpm) they will cause a misfire... but i see you checked that. Also does sound like it could be a fueling problem... Most petcocks have a screen filter inside the...

Re: Parts for sale
The coated pistons and spare valve sets are worth buying. I assume they are the standard JE 10.4 to 1 or so? Did the coating add anything to the dimensions- i.e. will they still fit in std bores? And what was the coating, Teflon? Hey Tony, JE 11.5 to 1 with a solid film dry lubricant. They will not...

Re: Parts for sale
Sorry to be a pain Chris but your add needs prices please & if shipping is included... You might get a few interested in various bits but the cost of shipping from Canada may make the costs too high... I didnt read the rules. I was just trying to make it known that Ive got parts to get rid of...

Re: Poor cylinder running and cam timing
Thanks. The head had not been apart but it has now! Nothing wrong with it, the valves or the gasket🙄. Filled the ports with fuel and nothing leaked after an hr. Pulled all the valves and they are good, no nicks nothing. Lightly ground the exhausts. Back to timing, I think I've just got it wrong. Wi...
