Re: insurance. what to do/ not?
As said, make sure they don't take it away. I came off my ZX-12R a few years ago, only slow speed but the forks got a little scraped on the kerb, as well as can, fairing etc. Mostly not too bad barbecue of the crash bungs. They came and took the bike away and I noted my exhaust, scottoiler, alarm an...

Re: Should I go RFID instead of manual keyed ignition?
Keyless car systems and bike RFID systems do differ slightly. Most car systems activate within a few metres, most bike systems require the RFID tag to be placed within a few CM of the reader to stop obvious issues. You could always add a backup system under the seat that you can only access with the...

Re: What engine oil does everyone use
I reckon only special oils have the additives you're worried about, magnatec etc. Standard engine oil is probably the same across the board. The stuff made by the company our lass worked for was rebranded by several other companies and it all came from the same vat

Re: What engine oil does everyone use
Car engine oil has anti friction properties that would just cause a motorbike clutch to slip and require replacement. Rubbish!! I have a friend who has only ever ran his bikes on car oil! I'm talking a lot of bikes over the last 30 years of all makes/models/ages, never had clutch/engine/gearbox iss...

Re: Should I go RFID instead of manual keyed ignition?
I've coded and designed an RFID ignition based on an MSP430 microcontroller. Never got round to fitting it though as I sold the bike it was meant for. Might revisit it one day. Only cost about £10 in parts and I'd figured out a latching relay system that would stop any accidents or electronic gremli...

The Mrs used to work for a large oil company. They guys in the lab said that bike oil was exactly the same as the equivalent car oil, just badged up and sold in smaller bottles for more profit. it aint! i bought over the years probably 100,000 its of oil for work etc, I've always asked the manufact...

Re: You got to try one of these if ya get the chance! ...wha
I had a 97 RRV about 14 years ago and loved it. Regretted selling it for years so went back to try them again. Got an RRX that time but just didn't enjoy riding it like I had done years before. Tried lots of bikes in-between but I doubt I'd go back to one now unless it was "fightered".

Re: Videos on bikes
I think we're a long way away from 100bhp limits and such like You reckon...it's worse than that. We wont even be in control of them. We will simply be a passenger on a electronically controlled computerised device. Cars first..then the bikes. :eek2 Maybe bikes will be a bit like jumping on a Ski l...
