Re: VTR Cafe Fighter Project

Cheers Tony, I'm in two minds about it so I'll see how I get on. Problem is I'll only have to cut into the next one to fit the speedo again so not sure. After my last post I managed to get a few more bits done. Sorted out the other stuck bolt on the swing arm, and cleaned up the frame so I'll pop it...

Re: VTR Cafe Fighter Project

Sooo... It's been a long time since I did anything on the bike, been a busy couple of months. But today I've got some time! Started this morning by taking apart the rats nest left behind by the previous owner. I Had to take this apart to get the wiring harness free from the frame. I used to be an el...

Re: VTR Cafe Fighter Project

I cANT do that lumpy, I haven't got time for those sort of ANTics. And besides it would be an ANTi climax to do such a pANTs bike with such a rubbish power plANT after working on a VTR.

I'll get my coat too....

Re: VTR Cafe Fighter Project

Right... So I had to re-spray a hire car bumper that I managed to scratch to shite so haven't been able to look at the bike until today. Only managed to get a couple of hours so I've checked the valve clearances and all is well! They're all within tolerance so happy days. Also had a look at the plug...

Re: VTR Cafe Fighter Project

That's the stuff!

Well there's not been much going on with the bike this week. I reversed a hire car into a post so have been spending my time reparing that to avoid a £500 "excess"

Re: Are there any after market engine mount to frame adjuste

Do you mean the wings that surround the oval frame bolt? That's not a disaster. The adjuster screws into a threaded drilling/boss in the frame. It's not untypical for them to seize. But its fairly easy to file flats on the inboard flared boss, to eable you to get Stilsons onto it, and overcome the ...

Re: Engine removal help

Hello Drever, I've just done a full strip on my bike, including taking the engine out. I left the bike for 4 days, each day going round and spraying every bolt with WD40, can't recommend it enough! I only had 3 stuck bolts on the whole bike and it was pretty grotty. Having said that one of the 3 to ...
