Re: My poor Storm :(

Excuse my terminology. The gasket was like a collar around where the link pipes joined the exhaust, correct?

Re: My poor Storm :(

I don't have a pictures as it was last year, just thought if I ever wanted to put the original ones back on, they'd be too big for the link pipes. The aftermarket ones slid straight on without the need for this gasket, is that normal? I thought the aftermarkets and pipes were the same size at first,...

Re: My poor Storm :(

So far so good. Plastex works a treat! Bonded, sanded, filled and primed ready for painting. You can't even see where the cracks were... Just hope I can get a good finish with the top coat... I have an unrelated question if anyone can help reference my exhaust... When I purchased the bike, it came w...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Sanded down, used Plastex to bond the fairings, filled any blemished and primed! All set for a final rub down and top coat! Can't even see where I've made the repair, so far so good! Oh, snapped up a matching seat cowl off fleabay for £25.

Thanks, but I think my approach won't be as professional. I don't have any equipment like that at my disposal.

Re: My poor Storm :(

Right, a friend has offered me free rein of his workshop so I'm going to have a shot at repairing myself. I've order some Plastex, do I need filler as well or will the Plastex be enough? Also, any tips on what sort of primer/paint and how to get it nice and shiny? Tempted to do the lot before summer...

Re: My poor Storm :(

Thanks for the above, I've exchanged a few messages with the Italian chap and he's going to do a bit of research and let me know a price. In the meantime, I've had a look at a few of the videos online for one of the repair products and it seems relatively easy. I'm a electrician and suffer from OCD,...

Re: My poor Storm :(

I beat myself up a little last night I have to say. Not feeling too upset this morning. I can live with the fairings for now, just want to get the exhaust back to where it should be. Need to work out what's bent! A local garage just quoted £150 to weld the plastic, and said it would only make it sec...

Re: My poor Storm :(

Thanks again guys. I'll get it sorted. Ah, those fairings would have been perfect, would have purchased the set and got the whole lot sprayed. If anyone is thinking of selling any fairings, think of me! In the meantime I'll take Tony's advice and bungee the cover up.

Re: My poor Storm :(

Yeah, I've emailed a couple of local repair shops with the photos and requested a quote. Hopefully it shouldn't come out to high. Think in the future I need to keep an eye on the weather and whip the cover off before the storm hits. Maybe a few bungee ropes could help keep the cover on the bike and ...

Re: My poor Storm :(

I know Llyodie. I've got a garage sorted for next winter, its a couple of hours ride away though but will be safe and dry there. I've only just moved, and the bike is now literally in view of the sea where as before I was a couple of blocks back. Didn't even think the cover would do that, even readj...
