Re: Surging at cruise
thats way too much for them to be turned out . front 2 rear 2,1/4 Yeah I know I overdid it but I kinda wanted to go too rich to prove the point if you get me? If it cured it then I could go back and wind them back in a bit :D as it happens even with them right out there it's still too weak so it ki...

Re: Surging at cruise
Mine's an early one so no pair system to interfere with things... The mixture screws are a good way out already, I overdid it a bit and set them at 2-3/4 and 3 turns as it idled better there than further in. I do have open cans on but I wouldn't expect this much of an issue :confused. I'll balance t...

Surging at cruise
Hi Guys (and girls... gotta be pc :D ) I am aware that this subject is a slightly familiar one but even though I consider myself fairly handy with a spanner this is getting me a little wound up! So I thought I'd put it up for a second (or likely more!) opinion :D At any speed really at a ste...

Re: I Bought It With a Knock
No point in rushing it now though, maybe a good thing to find valve clearances are out as it hopefully means when up and running again she'll be nice and quiet

Re: I Bought It With a Knock
Did you hear the vid at the start when he first got the bike. No I didn't see that one, only the ones since the latest woe's... I don't think I wanna hear the sound of a 500cc piston hammering into the big end tbh :eek2 I guess we'll never know for sure what happened Jim, but for sure don't lose he...

Re: US/UK VTR Project.
To be clear, this is a uk bike I bought from a bloke in Cambridge. The only parts that I have added is a US frame, fairings and tail light. I added front LED lights which go from off to amber to off when switching them on. Granted, they flash a little fast, but they work as the MOT requirements say...

Re: US/UK VTR Project.
In that case I'd argue with the UK mot tester that he can't fail a U.S system within the guidelines

Re: I Bought It With a Knock
How'd you explain the tapping noise with that though? Or are you thinking it's something unrelated? I thought maybe the noise was in fact a badly seated inlet valve (hard to tell on recorded sound) but i'd have thought the carb balance would have been an issue in that case... I suppose logically the...

Re: US/UK VTR Project.
I think the answer lies in the detail... does the us spec indicator go from dim (running light) to bright or does operating the indicator stop the running lamp so the indicator flashes on and off

Re: US/UK VTR Project.
I get the lights too close together bit, truck consicuity markings have to be 200mm away from a brake lamps now or they fail test but from my days of mot testing I was told you have to have a reason for rejection to fail, the reason in this case would be this '. a front position lamp shows a light o...
