Assuming it's the reg/rec causing my problems, if I unplug it and recharge the battery, should the bike run ok? (at least until the battery voltage drops)

Got to be something to do with R/R or battery, its the only thing you changed , was running fine before setting off to Jamie s , dont care what the meter indicates, mine was the same symptoms and the multimeter said its cool but it wasn't new rr and battery back to normal just a thought Steve Yeah ...

it sounds like fuel starvation to me. the fuel tap would be my no1 suspect. you say you have checked the vacuum pipe is attached to the correct part of the fuel tap and it is not split or leaking? it could also be the diaphragm in the fuel tap When I apply vacuum to the port on the tap, fuel flows ...

Hi, 2 days ago my VTR was running fine (albeit on a paddock stand). Jumped on it early this morning to go to Santa Pod for some RWYB action and didnt make it out of the village. It felt like 1 cylinder was cutting in and out, and more out than in. This is obvious when its idling. It wont rev freely ...

theres loads of info regarding aftermarket filters...most of it says that anything other than the standard filter causes running problems which are hard to tune out. When and if you do get it running right the likelyhood is you'll gain a little up top but dip in the midrange. Personally, I'm stickin...

Well done Neil. That's the main maintenance tasks sorted (except maybe the rear suspsension linkage) now it's time to modify it to within an inch of it's life :thumbup: Haha yeah I've been looking on Ebay for some bits, but to be honest I'll probably leave the motor alone and just put on some light...

Oh and uk bikes don't have a D on the mixture screws so they are standard :-)

The carb screws aren't chewed up either so I reckon they're not messed with!

ok so I picked this up yesterday http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k464/kurt999/T2eC16dysE9sy0jK-lBQB5UmJOQ_12_zps0c65ca97.jpg and dismantled it today to see what I actually had.ll the bodywork off revealed nothing particularly nasty onther than a sh1t reg rec. checked the charging and seems ok but...
