Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Attempted to get to the bottom of my temp gauge swinging over to the "H" when the ignition is switched on :( Anyone any ideas? Checked Carl's idea that there was a sender change during the model run but when I cross referenced the temp sender numbers it only shows one type. If anyone could...

Re: fooking storms

Duffy is on to it  I had the same issue yesterday & it was in gear  I gave up as well, the rage was intense. I was concentrating on the temp gauge at the time & knocked it into gear whilst goofing around. Anyone know if they lose all its oil if the cooler pipes are removed whi...

Re: Project Varatrackerstorm or Firetrackerdero.

I've been searching for ideas as to why it's going over to "H" when I turn the ignition on but there's not much out there. I was intrested in what Carl said about the two different types of sender/gauge's & will look closer into that. Today I replaced the electrical connection screws a...

Re: Project Varatrackerstorm or Firetrackerdero.

I feel the above purchases were a case of 3 steps foreword 2 steps back  The caliper idea was a no go as there's two much offset on the carrier. Looks as if I'll be using a wide (3 spoke) Storm rear wheel after all  Also the bashed oil cooler doesn't looked bashed to the seller :pro...

Re: Project Varatrackerstorm or Firetrackerdero.

Post arrived today, a bunch of Cbr1100 stuff. A more streamlined reg/rec, a rear caliper with carrier to fit the larger diameter Varadero rear disc & an oil cooler which has been damaged in the post. https://www.xrv.org.uk/forums/attachments/varadero/137495d1556283420-bored-your-varadero-enter-p...

Re: Project Varatrackerstorm or Firetrackerdero.

Cheers Chris  Yeah, brakes next Chris. Better had I suppose since it now drives  There must of been crap on the clutch plates or it's been standing for quite a while. I've never experienced this issue before. I've just bought a Blackbird rear caliper & carrier & hopefully it'll...

Re: Project Varatrackerstorm or Firetrackerdero.

I had a good look at the clutch rod & housing last night Tony & measured everything up just to make sure it all fitted together like it should & it does  So I didn't go down the washer spacing route. Tbh, it's quite simple how it works & it's practically impossible to put wr...

Re: Project Varatrackerstorm or Firetrackerdero.

You can make a rough and ready check by spacing out the sprocket cover using some washers and longer bolts, to mimic the shorter pushrod. That should let you know if the clutch works OK. If so, fit a storm pushrod. Brilliant idea Tony  I'm using a Varadero rod as there's a huge difference ...

Re: Project Varatrackerstorm or Firetrackerdero.

Brilliant news Vara to hear that beast bark into life      Cheers Fab, it's a lot louder than the clip. I'm not exaggerating, but it's like two CR450's running next to you. Tbh, it's awfully loud, scary nasty in a really really bad way. I really don't know what I'm goi...

Re: Project Varatrackerstorm or Firetrackerdero.

Yes, that's all you need. As said, I have a complete kit Sorry Tony, what I'm trying to get across is that I have all the bits & they were fitted to the build but it isn't working. I fitted the above bits & adjusted everything as it should feel. When it was running I pulled the clutch in &a...

Re: Project Varatrackerstorm or Firetrackerdero.

Thanks guys & happy Easter everyone  I have a varadero clutch conversion kit, a vara sprocket cover and bracket plus an odd hydraulic/cable conversion setup that works well. I tried it to see if I could stop the clutch grabbing without success. The only thing wrong is that the lever has...

Re: Project Varatrackerstorm or Firetrackerdero.

That sounds angry! Your right Kev, scary angry tbh 8O Like I mentioned above it's behaving a lot nicer with a few turns out on the pilots. It'll be interesting to see how well it behaves on the road once I get it to engage the gears  It's got me thinking of a Weber IDF for the Varadero ...
